Priesthood Corrupts
I Samuel - Chapters 1, 2, and 3.
I Sam. 1:1-3
Sons of Eli are corrupt. (Hophni and Phineas)
Ramathaim-zophim (Ramah)
Elkanah - (He was an Ephraimite, not from the tribe of Ephraim, but rather, he was a Levite. He was part of the Kohathites of the Levite family, the ones that would take care of the furniture and the articles in the temple. (I Chron. 6:31-35)
Prophet Erupts
The word for prophet is nabi, and the one who prophesies is naba.
1. A prophet is a spokesman that is authorized by God, or who is authorized to speak for another person. (Exodus 17:1-2)
2. A prophet is only a spokesman if God has given him the message.Jeremiah 23
3. If what that prophet says doesn’t come to pass, or if it leads people
away from God then that person is not from God. (Deut. 18:20-22 , Deut. 13)

Lord of Hosts is in charge of all the armies on earth and all the armies in heaven. He is the sovereign Ruler of the universe. I Sam. 1:11; 4:4; 17:45; II Sam. 6:2.
I Sam. 2 shows the corruption of the priesthood.
Sam. 2:12-15 Sons of Eli were worthless men.
Leviticus 7:22 and 25 - Priests not allowed to eat any fat.

Chapter 2:1 - Hannah exalts in the Lord.
Exalts - alats - means “to jump for joy”.
Exalted - ruwm - means ”to rise, or to raise.”
“My horn” - a symbol of strength.
