Job Description
SALARY:Scale E £22, 221 - per annum pro rata
RESPONSIBLE TO:Swindon Children’s Rights Service Manager
HOURS:10hours per week (part time)

Purpose of the Post
- To assist in therecruitment, training and provision of supervision to Independent Visitors and to assist the Project Manager in the delivery of the service for Swindon City Council
- To ensure that the needs of the children and young people using the service are met.
- To monitor and evaluate the success of the project.
Key Responsibilities
1)To meet with the child or young person, the foster parent (or anyone with parental responsibility), the social worker and any other relevant people in order to recruit and appoint a visitor appropriate to the child’s particular circumstances
2)To help assess, recruit and train new volunteers as Independent Visitors to meet the needs of the children with particular consideration of ethnicity, language, culture and religion or other special needs.
3)To provide regular supervision, training, and ongoing support for the volunteer Independent Visitors and to offer appropriate guidance and advice concerning practice issues ensuring that the service runs in accordance with Coram Voice policies, local procedures and national guidance.
4)To authorise and monitor out of pocket expenses for volunteers
5)To liaise with Local Authority representatives and other statutory and voluntary organisations, establishing good working relationships, receiving referrals and promoting the Independent Visitor service and addressing any issues.
6)To prepare reports and provide statistical information as required by the organisation and partner agencies
7)To manage the project budget and to maintain financial, administrative and case records as required by the organisation
8)To promote ongoing evaluation of the project; listening to the views and needs of the young people and volunteers in an ongoing, informal manner
9)To be have a good working knowledge and understanding of bothCoram Voice’s and Swindon’s Local Authority Children’s Safeguarding policy and procedures and ensure the activities of the project operate with the guidelines
10)To participate in supervision, staff meetings and appropriate training
Additional Tasks
1)To maintain an up to date work plan and to meet regularly with the Project Manager for supervision.
2)To undertake training/other learning opportunities as required and take shared responsibility for personal development.
These responsibilities are subject to review and may need to be adjusted in line with service developments.
