A RESOLUTION honoring Robert D. Vance, Secretary of the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet, upon the occasion of his retirement.
WHEREAS, Robert D. Vance is a proud native of Grant County and a graduate of the University of Kentucky, the University of Kentucky College of Law, the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University, and the Executive Banking Institute at the University of Louisville; and
WHEREAS, Robert D. Vance has served as Secretary of the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet since December 17, 2007; and
WHEREAS, in this capacity, Robert D. Vance has overseen the Department of Financial Institutions; the Department of Insurance; the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction; the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission; the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control; the Department of Charitable Gaming; the Board of Tax Appeals; the Board of Claims/Crime Victims Compensation Board; the Office of Occupations and Professions; and the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority; and
WHEREAS, Robert D. Vance also served as a member of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission's Task Force and chair of the Governor's Task Force on the Study of Kentucky's Alcoholic Beverage Laws; and
WHEREAS, in November 2013, the Kentucky Executive Branch Ethics Commission presented Robert D. Vance with the Livingston Taylor Ethics Award, which recognizes individuals, programs, or agencies within the Executive Branch of state government for their achievements and contributions in promoting the ethical conduct of Executive Branch employees; and
WHEREAS, this honorable body duly honors Robert D. Vance for his impeccable career as the Secretary of the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet, commends him for his years of distinguished service to this great Commonwealth, and grants him best wishes as he begins this new chapter of his life;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The House of Representatives hereby honors Robert D. Vance upon his retirement as the Secretary of the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet and wishes him the best of luck as he continues a life well-lived.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Robert D. Vance.
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Mike Denham for delivery.
