A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Vicki Joy Wheat.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Vicki Joy Wheat, and we pause in silent reverence for her soul.
WHEREAS, Vicki Joy Wheat was born on July 12, 1963, a native of Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Scottsburg, Scott County, Indiana, and she traversed these earthly bounds on October 27, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Vicki Joy Wheat was the loving daughter of John and Janet Faith Wheat; she was the loving mother of two sons, Scott Allen McCrory and Jonathan Ray McCrory, both of Comminskey, Indiana; she was the loving granddaughter of her maternal grandmother, Vyolet Trowbridge VanCampen of Scottsburg, Indiana; and she also leaves behind two loving brothers, Roger D. Wheat and Phillip E. Wheat, both of Scottsburg, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, Vicki Joy Wheat was tragically taken from us when the truck she was driving caught fire on the Madison-Milton Bridge, and even though 85% of her body was burned, she continued driving the truck until she reached the Kentucky side of the bridge, and out of harm's way; and in the aftermath of this tragedy, we are reminded of the bravery this young woman demonstrated on that fateful day; and we are also reminded that life is measured by deeds, not years, and through her compassion and genuine love and concern for her fellow man, Vicki Joy Wheat is worthy of the highest commendation; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Vicki Joy Wheat has left a void that cannot be filled, and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Vicki Joy Wheat, and extends to her family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Vicki Joy Wheat.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to John and Janet Faith Wheat, 3240 South, State Road #3, Scottsburg, Indiana 47170.
