A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Nicholas P. Beasley.
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we learn of the premature passing of Nicholas P. Beasley, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, Nicholas P. Beasley was born on April 3, 1987, a native of Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, and resident of Lawrenceburg, Anderson County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on January 23, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Nicholas P. Beasley was the loving son of Judith Carol Darnell Beasley; he was the loving son of James Edward Beasley and the loving stepson of his stepmother, Beverly Beasley; he was the loving brother of four sisters, Carolee Shifflett of Salvisa, Jill Harper of Lawrenceburg, Mary Evelyn Beasley of Harrodsburg, and Holly Shifflett of Lawrenceburg, and two loving brothers, Wade Beasley of Shelbyville and Billy Beasley of Burgin; he was the loving grandson of his maternal grandmother, Loraine Darnell of Lawrenceburg, and his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Beasley of Harrodsburg; and he also leaves behind a loving stepsister and three loving stepbrothers; and
WHEREAS, Nicholas P. Beasley attended Fairview Christian Church, where he was a member of the youth group; and he was an 11th grader at the Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg, where a Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in his name that will assist future students and families; and
WHEREAS, Nicholas P. Beasley was an outstanding young man; he loved to debate wherever he was, be it in the classroom, church, sports arenas, or at home, and he loved to win; his favorite subject was History, and he had great aspirations of attending Kentucky State University to obtain a teaching degree in History; and often, he would be allowed to teach his History class for the day, and he relished challenging his fellow students; and he was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan; and
WHEREAS, Nicholas P. Beasley was a communicator, in the very best sense of the word, and he enjoyed connecting with his peers on the Internet, which allowed him to chat with teens throughout the United States and as far away as Australia; and it wasn't until after his passing that his family realized the positive impact he had on his Internet friends' lives; and
WHEREAS, in the aftermath of this tragic accident on January 23, 2004, we are reminded of the grief and suffering afflicted upon the family and friends of Nicholas P. Beasley, how precious he was to his loved ones, and how his loved ones have been denied the opportunity of witnessing him reach his full potential; and we are also reminded that a life spent worthily should be measured by deeds, not years, and through his compassion and genuine love and concern for his fellow man, Nicholas P. Beasley is worthy of the highest commendation; and
WHEREAS, the premature passing of Nicholas P. Beasley has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the premature passing of Nicholas P. Beasley, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Nicholas P. Beasley.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Judith Carol Darnell Beasley, 1061 Indian Trail, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky 40342.
