A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Dr. W. B. Bingham II.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Dr. W. B. Bingham II, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Dr. W. B. Bingham II was born on January 25, 1922, a native of Stinking Creek at Dewitt, Knox County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Middlesboro, Bell County, Kentucky, and he crossed that final bourne from which no traveler returns on February 1, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Dr. W. B. Bingham II was the loving son of the late William Boyd Bingham and Ellen Williamson Bingham; he was the devoted husband of 62 years to Mae Bowling Bingham, who also was his faithful partner in the ministry; he was the loving father of three sons, Conley Bingham, Garry Bingham, and William Boyd Bingham III, and a daughter, Bonita Bingham; he was the loving father-in-law to Nancy Jones Bingham, Melissa Howard Bingham, Joan Bisceglia Bingham, and Clyde Creech, all of Middlesboro; he was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, and he was the proud great-grandfather of a great-grandchild; and he also leaves behind a loving sister, Mary Bingham Brewer of Dewitt, and a loving brother, N. P. Bingham of Harlan; and

WHEREAS, Dr. W. B. Bingham II was an esteemed member of the Bell County community, where he was pastor of Binghamtown Baptist Church for 54 years, and under his guidance, the church membership grew from 250 to over 3,500 parishioners; during his 60 year career in the ministry, he conducted over 5,000 funerals, over 500 revivals, and he preached from Alaska to Israel; he was instrumental in establishing the Gateway Christian School, which now has 300 students enrolled through 8th grade; and he also led the church in the ministry of media outreach through W. M. I. K. Christian Radio, and a regional television ministry covering six states; and

WHEREAS, Dr. W. B. Bingham II, affectionately known to all as "Preacher Bingham," was loved, highly respected, and admired for his guidance and wisdom; he was a faithful servant to God, and a loving minister to his flock; he hated sin, but loved the sinner; and he campaigned tirelessly for temperance and anti-gambling causes in Bell County, and throughout the Commonwealth and the nation; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Dr. W. B. Bingham II has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Dr. W. B. Bingham II, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Dr. W. B. Bingham II.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transfer copies of this Resolution to Mrs. Mae Bowling Bingham, 1100 North 25th Street, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965; and to Binghamtown Baptist Church, P. O. Box Z, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965.
