A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Robert "Bob" Dwaine Campbell.

WHEREAS, Bob Campbell was born in Plainfield, Indiana, on June 16, 1936, the only child of the late Charles and Maxine Avis Lamb Campbell; and

WHEREAS, Bob Campbell was a proud graduate of Clark County High School who held a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Bob Campbell began his distinguished career in education in Clark County at Central School teaching eighth grade social studies and acting as the school's basketball coach. In 1963, he began teaching history at George Rogers Clark High School and started the first history museum in Clark County. In that same year, the Winchester Junior Chamber of Commerce presented him with its Outstanding Young Educator Award. He went on to serve as principal of Belmont Junior High School, and then moved to that same position at George Rogers Clark High School in 1977. He served as President of the Clark County Teachers Association and the Central Kentucky Superintendents' Council. In 1993, after a luminous career in the field he so loved, Mr. Campbell, the man so many of his former students and players affectionately called "Coach," retired from the Clark County School System; and

WHEREAS, Bob Campbell was a Kentucky Colonel who served in the United States Army Reserves and was stationed at Ft. Knox. He served on the Board of Directors of the Clark Regional Medical Center and the Bluegrass Heritage Museum. He was a member of the Clark County Rotary Club, having been selected as Rotarian of the Year in 1998 and a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow in 1990. He was also a proud member and deacon of First Baptist Church, where he served as chairman on the Sesquicentennial Committee when the church celebrated its 125th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Bob Campbell departed this earthly existence on January 10, 2014, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service to his family, his students, and his community; and

WHEREAS, Bob Campbell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet Locknane Campbell; his daughters, Rebecca Campbell Vincent and her husband, Joel, and LeAnne Campbell Witt Barrineau and her husband, Joel; his grandchildren, Brendan Vincent, Caitlyn Vincent, Alyson Vincent Hill and her husband, Rob, Collin Witt, and Chandler Witt; his brother-in-law, Bill Locknane and his wife, Lenora; his sister-in-law, Carol Ann Oliver and her husband, Doug; and seven great-nieces and their children;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of the Senate, both individually and collectively, express their most profound and sincere condolences upon the passing of Robert "Bob" Dwaine Campbell, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to his family in this time of loss.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Robert "Bob" Dwaine Campbell.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senate R.J. Palmer II for delivery.
