A RESOLUTION Adjourning the House of Representatives in Loving Memory and Honor of Lance

A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett was born on September 15, 1984, in Lexington, Kentucky; and he traversed these earthly bounds on July 8, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Adam T. Puckett is the son of Tommy and Karen Ball Puckett; he is also survived by grandparents, Joyce Ashley Puckett and Jessie Ruth Ball; and he leaves behind many other family members and friends who loved him dearly; and

WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett graduated from Henry Clay High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University; and he has a degree in Radiology; and

WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett enlisted in the United State Marine Corps in April, 2007; and he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Bravo Company (Lava Dogs) Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, the life of Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett ended prematurely while on leave following his second tour of duty overseas; and he served in both Iraq and Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett was an avid baseball enthusiast; he is remembered by his friends and fellow soldiers as "a hero . . . leader . . . and a great Marine"; he is also remembered by a family friend as "a very special young man"; he was buried with full military honors at the Lexington Cemetery; and his awards and decorations include the: Combat Action Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal ISAF Afghanistan, Meritorious Mast, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and SMCR Medal; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky has the highest respect for Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett and is deeply grateful for the ultimate sacrifice he made for the freedom of all Americans; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Lance Corporal Adam T. Puckett.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit one copy of this Resolution to: Tommy and Karen Puckett, 1009 Turkey Foot Drive, Lexington, Kentucky 40502-2712; and to Jean Hitchner, 637 Twin Pines Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40514.
