A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of former Representative Clarence E. Jackson.

With our deepest gratitude and respect, we pause to pay homage to the Gentleman from Boyd County.

WHEREAS, Representative Clarence E. Jackson, the son of Ruby and Gladys Dixon Howard Jackson, was born in Ashland, Kentucky, on November 9, 1929. He attended the American School of Chicago and served in the Army National Guard for 18 years. He worked as a steel pourer for Armco Steel before retiring with 44 years of service and was a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 1865; and

WHEREAS, Representative Jackson was a dedicated public servant on the local level and the state level. From 1977 until 1986, he served on the Boyd County Commission and then was first elected to this Honorable Body in 1986, serving the people of the 100th District in Boyd and Greenup Counties for four years from 1987 through 1990; and

WHEREAS, Representative Jackson was very active in the Ashland community and participated in many clubs. He participated in the Ashland-Boyd County Democrat Club as well as the National Rifle Association, American Legion Clarence Fields Post 76, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Masonic Lodge in Ashland, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Representative Jackson, who was a devoted family man, was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Rose Jackson, and is survived by his son, Stephen and his wife, Lynn Jackson; his daughter, Patricia Cantrell; his stepson, David Rutherford; his four grandchildren; his five adorable great-grandchildren; a special friend, Ellen Bolt; and his caring caregivers, Samantha Wolfe and Linda Sparks. Clarence E. Jackson, who was a Baptist by faith, departed this life on February 25, 2013, in Russell, Kentucky, at the age of 83, and his passing is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth of Kentucky;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives, both individually and collectively, express their most profound and sincere condolences upon the passing of Representative Clarence E. Jackson to his family, friends, and community.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of the excellent service of our former colleague, Representative Clarence E. Jackson, to the citizens of Boyd and Greenup Counties.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Kevin Sinnette for delivery.
