A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of the General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant.

WHEREAS, the General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant was established in 1981, and over the last three decades it has become a testament to this Commonwealth's hard work and its unwavering belief in the American automobile; and

WHEREAS, the plant has undergone many changes since its inception, upgrading its services and facilities and providing new employment opportunities for the citizens of Bowling Green and this Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the plant currently employs nearly 1,000 Kentuckians and is recognized as the world's only site for the production of the legendary Corvette, known as "America's Sports Car" and the official state sports car of Kentucky. The Corvette, the world's longest-running, continuously produced passenger car, has earned numerous accolades over the years, including being ranked by J.D. Power and Associates as the top GM model for quality and fifth in the entire industry, which are testaments to the extraordinary skill and commitment of the General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant's management and employees; and

WHEREAS, in 2014, the Corvette Stingray was named Car of the Year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The Stingray, a concept car that was designed to "test handling and ease of performance," is another in a long line of successful iterations of the Corvette brand, and yet another example of the bright future of the Corvette, the lasting power of General Motors, and the continued good work of the General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant; and

WHEREAS, this body commends all management and employees at the General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant for their diligence in manufacturing a quality product, for their tireless advocacy toward keeping an American product here in our Commonwealth, and for keeping the historic Corvette brand alive not only for the citizens of Kentucky but for all Americans who love to drive and admire this American treasure;
