Effective Hiring Process – Assuring Good Hires

Hiring is the most important function of any organization since your mission is accomplished by the people you select. You are blessed with good selections; you are haunted by bad hires, and often end up in litigation over the hiring process or the later discharge of poor selections.

Failure to adequately check or test background of applicants can result in harm and liability for negligent hiring and reckless endangerment. BUT the "victims" of improper background investigations, drug screens or pre-employment tests also have legal challenges under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Title VII, the ADA and invasion of privacy laws.

This program covers the employer's need for secure and effective hiring while avoiding improper practices. The presentation covers:

  • Overview of Relevant Laws (discrimination, negligent hiring, defamation, privacy, FCRA and more)
  • Illegal Discrimination and Illegal Inquiry
  • The ADA Requirements
  • Validity and Developing Valid Interview Questions
  • Pre-Employment Reference and Background Checks, Criminal Records, Testing and Screening
  • Can you look at an applicant's social media
  • What Not to do in an Interview
  • Documentation

We encourage you to invite managers in your company to attend this special seminar – it’s not just for HR!
