BRUNSWICK COUNTY HOSTS 26TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE

North Carolina County Clerks, Deputy Clerks and COG Clerks:

The 26th Annual Conference of the North Carolina Association of County Clerks will be held at Sea Trail Resort and Convention Center in Sunset Beach on April 25-27, 2013 hosted by Brunswick County’s Margie Stephenson and Debb Gore.

We urge everyone to set aside this time to come to the beach for some continuing education, networking, sharpening up your socialization skills and some relaxation therapy.

Mike Collins of The Perfect Workday, has a action-packed MMC Advanced Academy I program to help us become more focused, getting into the work mindset, team building and raising our energy level.

After the Advanced Academy on Thursday you’re on your own to visit any of the nearby beaches or Calabash, home of the renowned Callahans Christmas Shoppe (callahansgifts.com) and Calabash Creamery (calabashcreamery.com). A little further down the road is the Myrtle Beach Tanger Outlets, Colonial Mall and Coastal Grand Mall to satisfy that internal instinct to shop. There are also several shops in Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach or any of the South Brunswick Islands.

On Friday Mike will present “I Didn’t Sign on for This” where we’ll learn how to recognize the effects of constant change on the Clerk and the organization, why we resist change and practical time management strategies. Friday afternoon introduces some of the Association’s “top models” wearing fun and colorful apparel from Island Breeze, an exciting clothing and fashion accessories boutique at Sunset Beach. Friday evening we’ll enjoy a beach country pig pickin’ along with a DJ/Karaoke and some “special guests” that will guarantee an evening of laughter, games and recreation.

On Saturday, our long-time mentor Professor Fleming Bell, will present the Legislative Updates and Laws that Affect the Clerk and Kathy Stoute of New Hanover County will have an interesting and informational session on Emotional Intelligence Matters in the Workplace. That afternoon, take advantage of this time to visit all the things you missed on Thursday.

At the Banquet, after a fresh country/seafood buffet straight from the Atlantic Ocean, we will install the new 2013-2014 Officers, present certifications and plaques to new CMC, MMC and NCCCC recipients and then dance the night away with local band, Rodney Dane and the Runaway Train.

Scholarships are available through the Association for registration and accommodations for those who otherwise may not be able to attend the conference. To request a scholarship, please send a letter of need addressing the specific reason for applying to:
