TERMS AND CONDITIONS
OPERATING TIMES
- The Markets are held on the last Sunday of the month (except in December when the markets will be held on a date to be determined by the Markets Manager.
- Trading hours will be as determined from time to time by the Markets Manager and will be published on the markets website and Facebook page.
STALLS
- Stalls on the roadway are a standard 3x3m.
- There are a very limited number of trestle stalls available on the footpaths.Trestle stalls are usually smaller but sizes vary.
- Stallholders must provide their own tables, chairs, cabanas, etc. If power is required, stallholders will provide their own power source.
- Stalls are allocated on a “first come, first served” basis. Allocations are the responsibility of the Market Manager and stall allocations will be advised by email in the week prior to market day
- Old Perth Road Markets may accept or reject any application at its sole discretion. Selection will be on the basis of locality, quality and diversity.
- Applications to sell goods that compete directly with local shops that may be opening on market day will not be accepted.
FEES
- Fees are charged per stall. Multiple sites are charged at multiples of the base stall fee.
- A discount on the monthly fee is available when a stallholder books and pays for 3 months or more in advance.
- The stall fee is as advertised on the markets website and Facebook page.
- Your fee does not provide insurance. Public liability insurance is mandatory ($10m public liability & $10m product liability, where applicable) and proof of insurance must be supplied with this form.
- If you do not have a public liability insurance policy casual insurance cover is available on payment of an additional $10 per month over and above your stall fee.
- Fees are non-refundable once application is accepted. If your application has not been accepted, you will be advised immediately by a member of the markets committee.
- Food Vendors must pay an annual notification fee of $50.00 to the Town of Bassendean.
LICENCES & PERMITS
- All vendors must have either a Special Retail Shop Trading Certificate (arts and crafts sellers) or a Small Retail Shop Trading Certificate (all other vendors). Application forms are available through the Markets Manager or the Markets web site and must be submitted to the WA Dept. of Commerce. These Certificates are issued free of charge.
- Stallholders selling any foodstuff/drinks (whether prepared on site or not) must register with the Town of Bassendean. The form: “Stall Holders/Traders Permit” is available through the Markets Manager or the Markets web site.
- Application forms are available from the website and Facebook.
SETUP
- The Old Perth Road will be closed to traffic two hours prior to commencement of trading on the Market Day. Stall holders must not set up before the road is closed.
- Stalls on the roadway will be given first access while trestle stalls will be allowed into the market area 45 minutes later to allow vehicular access to the stalls on the roadway.
- Stalls are required to be set up 15 minutes prior to the commencement of trading and vehicles should be removed from the area 30 minutes prior to the commencement of trading.
- Stalls not occupied by commencement of trading may be re-allocated.
- You may only park alongside your stall in order to offload your stall/stock. Vehicles are then to be removed from the market area. This condition must be followed in order that all stallholders may set up in good time.
PARKING
- Exclusive parking for stallholders is provided at the end of James Street on the reserve. All other parking areas including the area adjacent to the Bassendean Hotel are reserved for customers and visitors to the market.
HEALTH, SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT
- Stallholders are responsible for the safety of the public within allocated stall area and for the safety of products sold.
- Stallholders must ensure that all shelters, cabanas, umbrellas, tables, display boards etc. are adequately secured and comply with all safety regulations as requested by the Old Perth Road Market managers. Soft objects (sandbags or plastic water containers) must be used as hold-downs.
- Keep walkways clear and report any hazards to the Rotary Duty Officer at the information station.
- Stallholders must complete an “Incident Report Form” (available from the Rotary Duty Officer) for any and every accident or incident involving third parties.
- There is no electrical power on the site
- No amplifiers or public address systems are permitted
- The Old Perth Road Markets are a Smoke Free environment.
CLOSING AND CLEANUP
- Stallholders are required to remain open until official closing time of markets. Stall areas must be vacated within one hour of official closing time of markets to allow the road to be re-opened in accordance with the terms of our licence.
- Please remove all rubbish and leave the area clean and tidy. Large boxes and packaging materials are not to be disposed of onsite and stallholders are responsible for removing this off the site.
- Stallholders will not discharge grey water into the drains along the street.
- Bins are provided for customer rubbish.
REGISTRATION FORMS, INSURANCE AND PAYMENT
Documents required for a stall holder to trade at the Old Perth Rd Markets.
- Markets Application Form
- This form must be submitted for each market or series of markets.
- The stall fee (as per the schedule of fees published on the website) must accompany the application.
- Attach a copy of current insurance – (Public Liability $10million minimum and Product Liability $10 million where appropriate). This will be held on file and does not need to be resubmitted during its currency.
- If you do not have insurance cover, an additional fee of $10 per market must be included with the stall fee.
- Special Retail Shop Trading Certificate (arts and crafts sellers) or a Small Retail Shop Trading Certificate (all other vendors).
- Forms must be submitted directly to the WA Dept. of Commerce.
- All stall holders must have these available for scrutiny by Dept of Commerce inspectors.
- Trading Certificates are location specific and must be issued to trade at the Old Perth Rd Markets.
- These certificates are issued free of charge.
- These forms are available through the Market Managers orthe Markets web site.
- Food Stall Application - “Stall Holders /Traders Permit” Form.
- This form must be completed for all food stalls or mobile food businesses and submitted direct to the Town of Bassendean for registration, along with the annual fee of $50. DO NOT send this form to the Old Perth Road Markets.
- Food vans registered at another Council need to provide a copy of that registration with their application form. The notification fee $50.00 is still required.
- Registration is held on file thereafter and does not need to be resubmitted for future bookings in each financial year.
- This form is available through the Markets Manager orthe Markets web site.
- Wine or Beer or Liquor Licence
- Stall holders wanting to sell any type of alcohol should direct enquiries to Dept of Racing Gaming and Liquor (www.rgl.wa.gov.au)
