LOGTECH Advanced Program

TITLE: LOGTECHAdvanced Program in Logistics and Technology

LENGTH OF PROGRAM: 5 Days

LOCATION: University of North Carolina (UNC) -ChapelHill, Kenan-Flagler Business School, Paul J. Rizzo Center at Meadowmont, Chapel Hill, NC.

PURPOSE: Learn how to embrace and promote innovation to improve logistics and supply chain management strategy. Collaborate with peers from diverse organizations across the public and private sector to address shared challenges across the logistics field.

DESCRIPTION: LOGTECH Advanced is taught workshop-style using a combination of lectures, guest speakers, panels, and in-class exercises.It includes sessions and discussions on transformation, global/international security, winning with logistics, life cycle systems approaches, support systems design to tie logistics to operations, technology and organizational innovation, dynamics of decisions, and leadership/organizational effectiveness. 4.0 Continuous Education Units (CEU’s) or 40 Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) will be awarded for successful completion of this course. Participants are responsible for updating their training records upon return to home-station.

NOMINATION SUSPENSE DATE: Minimum of 45 days prior to program start date. Some Services/Agencies have longer lead times. Please note that the courses fill up quickly. Recommend that individuals submit applications well advance of the suspense and that organizations have several alternate’s or standby candidates selected and ready to attend if a slot opens up.

PROGRAM DATES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018:

  • 18-23March 2018
  • 20-25 May 2018 (additional program offerings may be announced at a later date)

ELIGIBILITY: Military officers in grades O-4 through O-6, Warrant Officers in grades W-4 and W-5, Senior Enlisted grade E9,and Department of Defense (DoD) Civilians in grades GS-13 through GS-15 or equivalent. Participants must work in the logistics, supply chain, transportation and/or acquisition career fields. Additionally, participants assigned to non-logistics positions (Resource Management, Safety, Medical or Human Resource) that are responsible for functions that directly interface with logistical support functions and support the Warfighter may apply.

TRAVEL: Program starts on Sunday evening at 1800 with a reception and dinner. Class begins onMonday morning at 0800 and ends at 1300 on Friday. Dress is business casual for all participants.The Service, agency, unit, or organization is responsible for travel costs to the course and returning from the course. The course is conducted at the Rizzo Center at UNC Chapel, Hill. Raleigh/Durham (RDU) is the local airport. Arrival flights should land no later than 1600 on Sunday and depart no earlier than 1500 on Friday. Should an approved additional night of lodging be needed before the course or after the end of the course for OCONUS travelers, accommodations can be made.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Submit application packet to service or agency contact for selection and nomination.

Service/Agency points of contact will rank order their selected applicants and forward them to Jeffrey Frankston, , 571-256-7052 for review and processing. Each applicant packet includes a narrative biography (prefer one page but some services may require more), Logistics Problem Statement, and a completed SF 182 (ensure sections A, B, D, E and page 5 are completed). ALLOTMENTS: Each Service is allotted six participants per Advanced Course. DoD as a whole receives six slots for attendees from TRANSCOM, DLA, J4, USD(AT&L), etc. This comes to 30 students per Advanced Course.

COSTS: Tuition, room & board, materials and other related expenses total $9,000 per participant. Travel costs to and from the course and travel related TDY are the responsibility of the individual Service, agency, commands, or unit. The Service/Agency selecting the participant

CANCELLATIONS: All selected participants must notify their Service POC, Jeffrey Frankston, , 571-256-7052and the Institute for Defense and Business () if they must cancel. Each Service/Agency POC must approve any cancellations once an applicant has been accepted/confirmed into the program. The service POC is responsible for initiating contact with their standby applicants for that course and providing their contact information Jeffrey Frankston and the Institute for Defense and Business.
