With reference to your email dtd.21.10.05, we have given below our answers to your questions for your kind reference. Kindly go through the same and give us your earliest feedback.
a) Could you give us some more information about the activity center? Who are the children, what type of activities will they be doing?
Let us share our activities undertaken in the Activity Centers run at Akkaraipettai (Nagapattinam and Karaikkal)
ACTIVITY CENTRE in NAGAPATTINAM
Center focus on
-School Dropouts
-Children who lost their parents and single parent children
-Children who never gone to the school
-Slow learners
-Small kids aged between 2 ½ years to 5 years
No. of beneficiaries planned: 50 Children are regular to the center every day
ACTIVITIES
Reading Corner
Newly made bookshelf has - Story Books & various skills related books are kept for children to choose themselves to read the same and doubts will be clarified by the Incharge and Assistant Incharge and the volunteers of Suyam
LISTENING CORNER
Things provided :
1.Sound system with tape recorder with 10 headphones and two amplifiers
2.Good capacity Computer with Speaker and Woofer
3.Various educational related CDs, fun games for children, mathematics CDs and Story CDs, etc
Listening Corner Activity :
CD's are played and visual presentation to the children and explaining the activities
With the help of sound system audio cassettes are be played, with the help of head phones children will individually listen the cassette and any doubts ask the doubt with the help of mike attached to that.
WRITING CORNER
Drawing Books, tsunami training materials - drawn and enjoy, chart papers and necessary scissors and crayons and water colors are given to the children to have fun when draw and develop their creative skills.
PLAY CORNER
Various sports materials like Cricket Bat and Ball, Volley Ball and Basket Ball, Puzzle games, Carom Board, Skipping Rope, Chess Board and various other materials are kept for children and Rs.7000 worth Bridge Ladder is provided outside of the centre for children.

Achievements
20 school dropouts in different years were brought to the center. After proper attention is given to the children in 3 months time, personal care and attention made them to taste the fruit of Education, the urge to learn is increased, parents are counseled, all the children reunited with the PanchayatUnionElementary School, Akkaraipettai.
ACTIVITYCENTER at KARAIKKAL
… Similar type of activities are being carried out in Karaikkal center but the focus is on

d) On the project proposal, you have mentioned story and coloring books (70 dollars) and miscellaneous expenses. Could you expand, just for clarity, how many books would you be able to buy and what the miscellaneous expenses are?
For our Nagai and KaraikkalCenter we bought the story books from State Government run Book depot and entire stuff is found useful and got with good concession in rate. Each book costs Rs.5.00 to Rs.10.00 varies from book to book. Coloring books are bought from regular stationery shops which not only help the children to draw but also bring out their creative skills.
Miscellaneous Expenses : It just mean any other expenses other than the listed items in proposal, ex.TRAVELLING expenses not included in the proposal.
One more question - will this project be run by your group or Akanksha?
This project be run by SUYAM group exclusively. We have submitted the proposal only to Ms.Smita Jain so far?
