Requirements

· Completed application

· Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school grades 9, 10 or 11

· Minimum 3.0 GPA

· Must pass interview/screening process

· Tuition of $250

Optional: Commitment to community service (100 hours available during year). High school students may participate in a “science career ladder” through the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center first as Volunteer Docents, then as Paid Interns, where they learn to interact with the public and assist with special events and other public programs. After 100 hours of volunteer service work (within a year) they may move into paid internship positions, based on performance and availability, partnering with college level experts to learn how to conduct demonstrations, interpret exhibits, assist with workshops and hands-on activities, orient school groups, and work with the various science programs at the UC Davis Thomas J. Long Foundation Education Center.
