LECTURE 6

THE SATANIC POWER OF MUSIC

Introduction to Satan’s music

Wicked music in the Old Testament

Ex 32:4-7 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord. And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. And the Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

False religion, idolatry, was involved with it. Satanic music will often have a ‘religious’ component to it. There will be something other than the God of the Bible to worship: sensuality, the new generation, drugs, free love. The religious (so-called spiritual) side to the music opens the door wide for a certain type of ‘power’ to come into it… i.e. Satanic.

Ex 32:15-18 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp. And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

The world’s wicked music gets people really excited, even shouting, jumping, dancing, screaming, basically out of control…to where it sounds like ‘war’. What Moses heard was music (singing); but, it had the sound of a battle, of war, out of control, shouting, screaming! This describes much of today’s Rock music.

Ex 32:19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

And, associated with this wicked music is lots of dancing. Dancing takes the Satanic power in this music to a natural outcome…licentious sensual immorality. The dancing is nothing more than animalistic mating calls; alluring the opposite gender for the purpose of mating.

Ex 32:25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

Music brought about by Satan’s power will typically lead to shouting, being out of control, war-like, and then dancing begins, alluring the opposite (or same) gender, and then sexual immorality will undoubtedly occur (nakedness).

Ex 32:26-28 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour. And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

To say the least, God is not pleased with this type of wild, sensual, out of control, idolatrous, dancing associated, sexual music of today’s Rock, Rap, Hip Hop, Pop, Grunge, and Country music genre’s! He very well may judge you, or even a whole generation due to it. He knows the evil power behind it.

The world’s music is powerful.

Just think how “Rock” music has shaped our culture over the past 40 years…all starting with “Elvis” and “the Beatles”….then to the Doors and the Rolling Stones…and on to Aerosmith and Madonna…and then to U2 and Michael Jackson…finishing up with Metallica and Whitney Houston. Oh there are thousands more ‘famous’ stars that have greatly influenced the cultures over these last 40 years; each one having there own special influence…their own special cultlike following…their own packed out stadiums…their own screaming fans…their own millions of dollars pouring in each year!!!

The whole basis of the world’s music is Satanic

David Tame (an unbeliever), in his 1984 book, The Secret Power of Music, stated: "Were we to scour the globe in search of the most aggressively malevolent and unmistakably evil music is existence, it is more than likely that nothing would be found anywhere to surpass voodoo in these attributes ... as the rhythmic accompaniment to satanic rituals and orgies, voodoo is the quintessence of tonal evil. ... Its multiple rhythms [score], rather than uniting into an integrated whole, are performed in a certain kind of conflict with one another. ... What is certain is that to hear this music is to become instantly encompassed by the sound of its raw, livid power. ... Musicologists and historians are in no doubt that the drum rhythms of Africa were carried to America and were transmitted and translated into the style of music which became known as jazz. Since jazz and the blues were the parents of rock and roll, this also means that there exists a direct line of descent from the voodoo ceremonies of Africa, through jazz, to rock and roll and all the other forms of rock music today"

The world’s music follows the religious doctrines of Satanism

Rock music has always been associated with an anti-Christian attitude, an immoral lifestyle, and violence. The first rock concert in 1952 (called a Moon Dog Ball), which was organized by disc jockey Alan Freed, resulted in a riot that sent mobs of young people rampaging through the streets of Cleveland, Ohio. Riots, beatings, and stabbings occurred at other Freed concerts. Following a riot in Boston in 1958, rock concerts were banned in several cities and Freed was kicked out of the concert business. Freed, called by Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock "the original Pied Piper of rock & roll," allegedly was the first to apply the term "rock and roll" to the new Blues-based music. He died in 1965 at age 42, penniless and drunken. Freed well epitomizes the wretched history of rock & roll.

Rock and its most direct predecessors—the Blues, Ragtime, Jazz, and Boogie Woogie—have shared a philosophy of hedonism—whatever feels good is right, do your own thing, if it feels good do it. That is also the basic philosophy of Satanism. Famous early 20th-century Satanist Aleister Crowley (1847-1947) has had a large influence upon modern rock music; influencing famous groups such as The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and Ozzy Osbourne. Crowley’s philosophy was "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law."

Satan has influenced many ‘rock stars’

Today's musicians, admit that much of their inspiration comes from an evil source. Why should we doubt their testimony? David Lee Roth, who wrote "Running with the Devil" and called himself "toastmaster for the immoral majority," admitted that the goal in the world of rock was to conjure up evil spirits and surrender to them:"I'm gonna abandon my spirit to them, which is actually what I attempt to do. You work yourself into that state and you fall in supplication of the demon gods..."

Marilyn Manson rips apart Bibles on stage and says: "Hopefully, I’ll be remembered as the one who brought an end to Christianity. … Each age must have at least one brave individual that tries to bring an end to Christianity. ... No one has managed to succeed yet; maybe through music we can finally do it"

Angus Young, lead guitarist for AC-DC, is called the "guitar demon"; and he admitted that something takes control of the band during their concerts: "... it's like I'm on automatic pilot. By the time we're halfway through the first number someone else is steering me. I'm just along for the ride. I become possessed when I get on stage".

Ozzy Osbourne said: "I really wish I knew why I've done some of the things I've done over the years. I don't know if I'm a medium for some outside source. Whatever it is, frankly, I hope it's not what I think it is - Satan".

David Bowie said: "Rock has always been the devil's music, you can't convince me that it isn't. I honestly believe everything I've said-I believe rock and roll is dangerous. I feel that we're only heralding something even darker than ourselves”.

There are countless songs by ‘Rock’ ‘musicians’ that are blatantly Satanic (and largely unprintable); here are some of the better known groups’ –

Slayer: "Jesus knows your soul can not be saved, Crucify the so called Lord."
Jethro Tull: "If Jesus saves, well he'd better save himself."
Alice in Chains: "Jesus Christ, deny your maker."
Nine Inch Nails: "I'll heal your wounds, I'll set you free,I'm Jesus Christ on Ecstacy."

XTC: "The Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost. Is just somebody's unholy hoax."

Morbid Angel: "Mote it be, Satan's sword I have become...I burn with hate to rid the world of the Nazarene."

Satanism goes from the Beatles to Black Metal!

Black (Death) Metal’s bizarre demonic bloodline “can be traced straight back through Venom, Mercyful Fate, and other darker-themed Metal bands of the early ‘80s, to the Heavy doom-ridden sounds of Black Sabbath and the mystical Hard Rock of Led Zeppelin, to their bluesy antecedents the Rolling Stones, and all the way to a poor black guitarist from the American South who may have sold his soul to Satan in a lone act of desperation. An unlikely Black Metal pedigree, but there it stands, helped along the way by countless others who poured their own creative juices into an evolving witches’ brew" (Moynihan, Lords of Chaos, p. 22).

Black Metal is simply pushing the envelope of wickedness and blasphemy that has always been present in rock music. Even the Beatles, who were Sunday School boys by comparison to many Death Metal groups, were viciously anti-Christian and blasphemous and thus did their part to pave the way for Death Metal. The Beatles’ press officer, Derek Taylor, testified: "They’re [the Beatles] completely anti-Christ. I mean, I am anti-Christ as well, but they’re so anti-Christ they shock me which isn’t an easy thing" (Saturday Evening Post, August 6, 1964). In 1970, Paul McCartney stated, "We probably seem to be anti-religious ... none of us believes in God".

In his hugely popular song "Imagine," John Lennon (Beatles) mused: "Imagine there’s no heaven … No hell below us, above us only sky. … no religion too/ You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one/ I hope some day you’ll join us, and the world will live as one." That is a blasphemous denial of Almighty God and His Holy Word.

John Lennon told of mystical experiences as a young teenager: "I used to literally trance out into alpha... seeing these hallucinatory images of my face changing, becoming cosmic and complete." Of his songwriting Lennon said, "It's like being possessed: like a psychic or a medium."

"Between 1989-1993 Death Metal had become immensely popular worldwide, with bands drawing crowds in the thousands on an average night" (Ibid., p. 31). Black Metal "songs" exhibit a fascination with violence and death in general, murder, torture, rape, dismemberment, and mayhem. Death Metal groups have names like Venom, Extreme Noise Terror, Napalm Death, Unleashed, Darkthrone, Vicious Circle, Carcass, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Dismember, Deicide, Entombed, Cradle of Filth, Necropolis, and Obituary.

The seeds of Death Metal can be traced to the thrash metal groups of the 1980s, such as Slayer, Metallica, Venom, and Anthrax; and to heavy metal groups of the 1970s, such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, which destroyed equipment, praised Satan, and promoted the grossest type of hedonism.

In July 1995, three teenagers in California, who were members of a Death Metal band called Hatred and who were "fanatical Slayer fans," murdered 15-year-old Elyse Pahler as a Satanic sacrifice. As Pahler prayed to God and called out for her mother, they stabbed her at least 12 times and left her to bleed to death. They chose Pahler because "her blond hair and blue eyes and virginity made her a perfect sacrifice to the devil". When the chief investigator asked one of the teens why they committed such a deed, he replied that "it was to receive power from the devil to help them play the guitar better" so they could be able to "play crazier and harder" and "go professional."

In April 1999, Death Metal lovers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked onto the campus of their high school in Littleton, Colorado, and brutally murdered 12 fellow students and a teacher and wounded 20 others before taking their own lives. Some of those murdered were picked out because they were Christians. Before they shot 17-year-old Cassie Bernall to death, they asked, "Do you believe in God?" She replied, "Yes," and they shot her. Harris and Klebold loved the most wretched forms of rock music, particularly Marilyn Manson and German "techno" and Death Metal rock groups.

Gladys Alarcon, a detective with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, testifies that "every teen she has interviewed in relation to a hate or occult crime has listened to ‘black metal’ music and used hallucinogenic drugs"

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world" (1 Peter 5:8,9).

Satan’s power in music goes in every category, every genre, every type of music! Whether you listen to Country, Jazz, Rock, Rap, Hip Hop, Pop, or ‘Christian’, Satan is involved with it, to be sure. We need to be very serious (sober), and investigating (vigilant) to the music we listen to. The Devil is your adversary and wants to totally devour you. He may very well try to devour you through the music you listen to. He may not devour you through drugs or false religions, but he sure may through ‘his’ music.
