Who Eats Whom?

Constructing a Food Web

Procedure

1. Use the information on the back of this page and arrange the organisms on a sheet of construction paper according to the following guidelines (Do not use pen until you have everything arranged the way you want.):

· Write “A Food Web” and your name at the top of the construction paper. Your paper must be positioned horizontally.

· Place the producers at the very bottom of the poster on the left side. Draw the sun above the producers.

· Place the primary (first-order) consumers directly above the producers.

· Place the secondary (second-order) and then the tertiary (third-order) consumers on the poster next.

· Place the decomposers at the bottom on the right side.

2. Be sure to space them evenly to allow room for the arrows.

3. Use a pencil to draw arrows to show the relationships between the organisms in this food chain. Remember, what the arrows represent so you point them in the correct direction. Go over each arrow with a marker when you are done.
