Park hours: Mondays-Sundays
8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Description of work involved / Provide instruction to youth participants between the ages of 10 and 17. Place emphasis on instilling safe gun-handling practices while inaugurating young shooters in the myriad facets of trap shooting. Instruction will be offered in the classroom as well as on the trap fields during dry fire and live shooting. Offer on-the-spot guidance in firearm safety, etiquette, and protocols.
Hours volunteers can work / Monday evenings, 6-9 p.m.

Skills required / Minimum age is 18.
Possess a current ATA or NRA Range Safety Officer certification.
Volunteers must complete an orientation program with a Target Range staff member and maintain a current, valid Florida driver’s license.
Applicants will be evaluated by the club as to their suitability as a volunteer. For example, there are several volunteers who do not shoot, but are capable of handling administrative tasks (handing out guns, etc.)
Shady or full sun area / Work is primarily outdoors during the evening hours.
Access to restroom facilities / Access to restrooms outside of the trails, within the park setting, but volunteers may have to hike out of trail to reach.
How many volunteers are needed for this project?
Individuals
Small Group-up to 30
Large Group-over 30 / Individuals.
How often do volunteers need to work on site? / Weekly.
Tools and equipment provided / All equipment will be provided as necessary.
Tools volunteers can bring if desired / Any personal tools and/or equipment the volunteer feels is necessary.
Personal items to bring / Long pants (recommended), sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, closed-toe shoes, protective eyewear, and earplugs.
Personal Protective Equipment will be provided as needed / It is the responsibility of the volunteer to bring their own protective equipment.
Project Start Date / Ongoing.
Project Completion Deadline / Ongoing, youth program is conducted weekly.
Duration of program / Minimum of four hours per month.
Volunteer Application Deadline / Applications can be turned in to the park office at any time. Volunteers can print out the Volunteer Application, fill it out, and then bring to the Markham and/or Target Range offices.
Orientation/Training / Volunteers will receive an initial orientation, which takes place when the application is turned in to the park office. Additional training will commence during the program under the direction of the Markham Park Skeet, Trap, and Sporting Clays Club.
Restrictions / Volunteers will follow all park safety and operational procedures and directives. Volunteers will use all personal protection equipment required to perform safely and effectively while on park project.
Extra comments / This is a great opportunity to give back to the youth of the communities by teaching them firearm safety, discipline, and a unique sport.
