Who should attend? Physicians, attorneys, paralegals, social workers, nurses, medical students, law students and everyone interested or involved in a medical-legal partnership.

Registration deadline: extended to September 9, 2008

Objectives:

· Develop strategies to effectively adapt the medical-legal partnership model to different types of Virginia communities, including rural and urban areas

· Explore strategies to engage medical staff

· Identify opportunities for systemic advocacy initiatives

· Build relationships with colleagues in Virginia and nationally who are likewise committed to the successful implementation of medical-legal partnerships

Guest Faculty:

Ellen Lawton, JD, is Executive Director of the Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at Boston Medical Center. She has served as MLPC’s Executive Director since 2001. Ms. Lawton is nationally recognized for her leadership in developing the medical-legal partnership model, and has published an array of articles describing this work in both clinical and legal journals.
