A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of James Robert Wilson, Sr.

With deepest respect, we pay homage and tribute to James Robert Wilson, Sr.

WHEREAS, James Robert Wilson, Sr., was born on September 12, 1902, a native of Keene, Jessamine County, Kentucky, and traversed these earthly bounds on May 12, 1997; and

WHEREAS, James Robert Wilson, Sr., was the adored son of Ben Wilson and May Mosley Wilson, who preceded him in death; and

WHEREAS, James Robert Wilson, Sr., was the devoted husband of the late Gladys Mahin Wilson; and the loving father of two sons, James Robert "Bob" Wilson, Jr., and Ben W. Wilson; and he was the loving grandfather of two grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, James Robert Wilson, Sr., was the proprietor of Wilson's General Store, a family business that was started by his grandfather in 1867, and was located in the old Keene Springs Hotel; he was Keene's postmaster from 1936 to 1972; and he was successful in the farming business with farms located in Jessamine and Woodford counties; and

WHEREAS, James Robert Wilson, Sr., was recognized in his community as an outstanding citizen; he held the position of director emeritus of the First National Bank and Trust Company in Nicholasville; he was a member of the South Elkhorn Christian Church; and he was a charter member of Kentucky Food Stores Cooperative; and

WHEREAS, all who knew and admired James Robert Wilson, Sr., will grieve over their loss, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of James Robert Wilson, Sr., and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. The passion, dedication, intelligence, and social consciousness that James Robert Wilson, Sr. brought to his community and to this great Commonwealth will never be forgotten.

Section 3. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory of James Robert Wilson, Sr.

Section 4. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Mr. J. Robert Wilson, Jr., 1409 Keene-Elkhorn Pike, Keene, Kentucky 40339; and to Mr. Ben Wilson, 5708 Keene-Versailles Road, Keene, Kentucky 40339.
