Trifles Annotated Bibliography for Extra Credit

Trifles Literary Criticism Annotated Bibliography Assignment

1. You will create 1 annotated bibliography for a criticism of Susan Glaspell’s Trifles.

2. The Annotated Bibliography extra credit grade will replace 1 quiz grade and add up to 10 points on a test grade.

3. The extra credit is due in my hands by Friday, January 30th, at 1:45 p.m.

4. Peruse Greenville County Library’s Bloom’s Online Literary Reference Database for literary criticisms on Trifles by Susan Glaspell.

5. Make sure that it is a CRITICISM and not a book review or summary. You should be reading the “full text” not an abstract or citation.

6. Once you have found one of interest, print it. As you read the article, highlight significant excerpts to use in your critique.

7. You will turn in a copy of the highlighted criticism with your extra credit. I will not accept your extra credit without a copy of the article that has been highlighted by you.

8. For this Annotated Bibliography, please include the following information:

a. Author’s credibility

b. Write a short summary of the article (minimum of 2 paragraphs and a maximum of 3 paragraphs) explaining what the writer is trying to prove about the play.

c. Your opinions about the article regarding what you agreed with and/or disagreed with in the article (minimum of 2 paragraphs and a maximum of 3 paragraphs). Include quotes from the article and/or play (it is in your textbook or on-line) citing evidence.

9. The paper must be typed and double spaced.

10. I will grade you on the following categories: MLA format, article summary skills, article analysis skills, and grammatical skills. Any MLA format questions can be found at Purdue University’s http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ .

11. Plagiarism will result in a zero and a referral.
