Dear Parents,
Our new learning question is “How do you know if it is living?” Your child should be able to tell you that living things breathe, eat and drink, move independently, grow and change and make more of their own kind.
The children have been learning to identify the difference between fiction and non-fiction text. This is something that parents can continue to point out. Table of contents, index, photographs, glossaries, inset pictures, graphs, pictures labels are all examples of non-fiction text features. It’s a great idea for parents to read non-fiction books with their children. You can focus in on each child’s special subject of interest as they grow and change. What a great way to encourage children to be read for learning and enjoyment.
In math we are continuing to work on problem solving and math facts to 10 with addition and subtraction

Homework:
The children have spring fever big time. I have begun a new behavior incentive program to encourage good classroom behavior. Please discuss with your child that school is not over yet and you expect them to continue to treat their teacher’s and each other with respect.
Monday each child will need a few different types of seeds which they have collected from its’ fruit, tree, bush or vegetable. I would like the children to experience finding the seed as it grows. Please do not send in a package of store bought seeds, I have plenty of those.
Happy Spring Break!
