The T. J. Bruno Memorial Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
Background:
The Brookdale Community College Foundation is honored to announce the T. J. Bruno Memorial Scholarship for Students with Disabilities. This Endowed Scholarship was formed by Tony and Claudia Bruno and family friends Eleanor and Roger Dolan in memory of their son who died in 1999 at the age of 34. The scholarship is available to provide tuition assistance to students annually who will attend Brookdale Community College in the fall 2013. The scholarship was made possible by the generous donations of family and friends.
Eligibility and Application:
Qualified applicants include those students currently enrolled or a graduate of a Monmouth County High School and is classified and determined eligible for special education and related services under provision of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA).
Applicants must submit:
ü Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a school official, teacher or counselor.
ü A brief essay describing desired educational goals to be achieved.
Please Note: The Bruno family will interview the finalists and select the recipients. The scholarship is $600 for the 2013/2014 academic year with $300 awarded for the fall semester and $300 for the spring semester. The scholarship may be renewed for another academic year subject to the approval of the Bruno family. The scholarship recipient is required to attend the Brookdale Community College Scholarship Reception in March 2014 and to send a thank you letter to the Bruno family.
