National Nursing Home Week was May 12-18. Miller’s Merry Manor had a big kickoff celebration the morning of Monday, May 13. Residents, family, staff, and guests enjoyed wonderful harp music by Lindsey Schuiteman. State Representative Kevin Mahan and Mayor Wayne Seybold both read proclamations, Michelle Bunker, President of the Marion Grant County Chamber of Commerce read a letter she had composed congratulating Miller’s on their strides in the community and to the Chamber of Commerce. It was wonderful to see the residents’, staff, family members, and community take part in this year’s celebration.
Funfilled activities were held during the entire week. The Miller’s Joy Strings Resident “Band” gave a concert, JROTC presented flags , Smile Seeker Clowns visited, residents played bingo with local celebrities calling the games, Lakeview Kids of Praise sang, Rachelle – owner of Faith in Motion and a Curves Zumba Instructor lead residents in morning exercises, facility volunteers were recognized with entertainment by the Frecker girls on violin – piano - and harps as well as Rita Faulkner’s lovely voice, Midwest Coffee visited with a drink cart, the Lion’s Club played bean bag toss with the residents, and the Boomtown Rambler’s music finished out the week’s events. Dave Devine from Quality Care ambulance grilled out for staff, and Yorkhouse Assisted living donated food items to make Banana Splits for residents and staff. A special thanks to Angela Buchman, Meteorologist, who took the time to visit and give a brief presentation to all those assembled at Miller’s Merry Manor.
We would like to thank everyone mentioned above and also for those who we might have missed. We truly thank everyone for donating their efforts and time to be with us in celebration of National Nursing Home week at Miller’s Merry Manor. We want to thank all the residents and their families who entrust us with the care of their loved ones. Thank you for making this year’s weeklong celebration a success!
Regards,
The staff and Residents of Miller’s Merry Manor of Marion.
