COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course enables students to explore their creativity in the field of interior design. Identification of the elements and principles of design are emphasized. Other topics included are housing choices, area planning and careers.

Class Fee $15.00

OBJECTIVES:

The students will:

  • Compile an Interior Design portfolio of all their coursework throughout the semester.
  • Identify the elements and principles of design.
  • Create visual example of the various elements and principles of design.
  • Discover how we are affected by different kinds of design.
  • Create a presentation board for one room.
  • Identify and draw a floor plan symbols and circulation patterns in housing.

EXPECTATIONS:

Appropriate classroom behavior is essential. Students are expected to attend class and be on time, use appropriate language, become involved in activities and discussions, complete assignments on time, display a positive attitude, stay awake, work well with others, respect the rights and property of others, and come to class prepared.

ALL SUPPLIES SHOULD BE LABELD WITH YOUR NAME/PERIOD. THEY WILL REMAIN IN THE CLASSROOM TO BE USED FOR THIS CLASS ONLY.

* Lined notebook paper.

* Pencil

* Pen (black ink)

* Ruler

GRADING:

Grading will consist of projects, portfolio checks, tests and assignments. I follow the FHS grading scale.

93-100% = A 90-92% = A- 87-89% = B+ 83-86% = B

80-82% = B- 77-79% = C+ 73-76% = C70-72%= C-

67-69%= D+ 63-66% = D 60-62%= D- 0-59%= F

LATE WORK:

All assignments and projects work towards the required performance objectives for the State Competency Test, therefore, all assignments must be turned in, in order to show demonstrated competency for the course. Assignments turned in on time will receive full credit. Late assignments will be accepted with a 10% reduction in points for one week past due date, and 25-50% reduction thereafter.

I follow FHS attendance policy. You are responsible for contacting me for any make-up work.
