EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Qualifications: Degree in Management, Social Work, Human Services or related field. Masters level preferred, BA/BS minimum qualification required. The Executive Director of the FRC must have integrity, vision and the ability to think strategically about the future of the Resource Center and the role of the Resource Center in the community.

Specifically, the Executive Director should have no less than three years’ experience in a management position which demonstrates the ability to identify potential funding sources, acquire grants, manage large and multi-source budgets, creatively manage a diverse staff, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, embrace the concept of collaboration and community and provide informed leadership to board, staff and the community at large.

Job Requirements:

Management Skills

- Maintain an efficient administrative office

- Is progressive in attitude and action

- Oversees and evaluates the implementation of agency goals and objectives

- Prepares all necessary reports and keeps accurate records

- Communicates clearly and completely with Board and staff

Fiscal Management

- Prepares and maintains a balanced budget (with Program Directors) that is reviewed and approved by the Board

- Demonstrates an understanding of good business practice and seeks advice when needed

- Responsible for insuring adequacy of safety and physical plant for employees and clients of physical plant

- Identifies potential funding sources, writes, and manages grants

- Is familiar with and informs the Board about the organization’s past, present and future fiscal position

Staff Management

- Hires and maintains competent staff members

- Encourages and supports staff growth and development

- Adheres to personnel policies and recommends changes when needed

- Provides consistent, regular supervision for staff

- Works with staff to develop realistic, measurable goals and outcomes for programs

- Creates a supportive atmosphere that promotes professionalism and creative problem solving

Community and Public Relations

- Clearly communicates the mission of the FRC

- Collaborates with other organizations to further the mission of the FRC

- Insures staff receive adequate training in promoting a positive image of the FRC

- Maintains high profile for FRC in community

Services to the Community

- Understands and stays current on the needs and challenges facing the wider community

- Actively involved in advocating for needed services

- Promotes collaboration among community organizations

- Participates in community organizations, projects and problem solving

- Seeks input from community and clients for the operation and direction of the FRC
