Part A
Introduction
The Gurusiddappa Kotambri Law College was established in the year 1974. The establishment of the college was made possible due to the munificent donation of philanthropist Dr. T. M. Kousali, and the college was named after his genitive father Gurusiddappa Kotambri.
By realizing the importance of legal education for the society and the in the light of new changes and challenges in the year 1994 the college was made a day college and in 2002 the college was shifted to its own spacious independent premises. The new building is located on the main road adjacent to several prominent educational institutions. The area is aptly called Vidyanagar owing to the most conducive atmosphere prevalent for academic perseverance. The college is housed in an imposing building with all the modern amenities. The students are provided with voluminous Library, spacious lecture halls, qualified and dedicated teaching staff, separate Hostel facilities for boys and girls, Bank, Canteen, Post Office, Bus services etc.
The peer team visited the college on March 8th and 9th of 2005. We are happy to mention that the college has geared up to cater to the ever -changing needs of the students in the domain of legal education. The college is accredited by NAAC at B++ level and it runs both 3 year LL.B. Semester, 5 year B.A., LL.B. semester course, Certificate Courses in Cyber Law and communicative skills in English. Now we have submitted Letter of Intention online for re accreditation on 15th April 2010, Re accreditation Report on 21st October 2010 and awaiting the peer team visit.
In addition to the lectures, the college had in its calendar of events lots of extra curricular activities such as selection of the college representatives, Sports, Debate, debate competition, Moot Courts, Special Lectures, Work Shops & Symposia, cultural activities etc.
Plan of action for 2010-11 and out come achieved by the end of the year.
Our objective is to strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity so that we rise to the higher levels of endeavour and achievement. Our approach has kept its pace but we are confident in achieving our goals and objectives.

1 / To continue the system of Students Progress Card, reflecting their achievements in Curricular, Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular activities. / The college has evolved a system through which the students’ performance will be evaluated in the form of Student Progress Card.
The progress card contains various activities of the students and their performance. Having regard to the performance of the students grades are given as follows:
A Grade / 70% and above
B Grade / 60% and above
C Grade / 50% and above
D Grade / 40% And above
This progress card will be given at the beginning of the semester.
2 / To conduct Legal Aid/Literacy programmes and Community orientation programmes. / Legal aid cell is effectively functioning.
Various Legal Aid camps were organized by the college in Schools, Colleges, and Villages etc.
Legal Aid & Legal Literacy Programme series 2010-11 was inaugurated on 13.09.2010 at S. K. Arts and H. S. K. Sc. Instt. Hubli at the grace full hands of Shri. S. Natarajan, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Dharwad. Our students Amruta Bangarshettar, Bapugouda Biradar, Jyoti Patil and Soubhagya Sangamashettar spoke on various topics like Birth and Death Certificates, Motor Vehicles Act etc.
· A Legal Literacy programme on account of “Legal Literacy Week” was organised in our college on 11-11-10 in association with Taluka legal services committee, and Advocates Association Hubli, and Broadcasting department. Shri. B. Shivalingegouda I Additional District and Sessions Judge, Hubli and Smt. Bhagya ratna, PCJ (Sr. Dn.) were the chief guests. Smt. Veena Pattanashetti, Advocate Hubli spoke on Law relating to juvenile delinquents and rights of children” on the occasion. Shri. V. B. Nadagaddi, President, Bar Association, Hubli and other advocates of the local courts were the speakers.
· World Consumer Day was celebrated at Chikkenakoppa Chennaveera Sharanara Andhara Ashrama, Navanagar, Hubli on 25th December 2010. Shri. Shekhargouda Patil, Retired District & Sessions Judge and President, District Consumer Forum, Dharwad was the Chief Guest.
· A Legal Aid/Literacy programme was organized for villagers on 10-01-11 in Gangival village in association with S. K Arts and H. S. K Science Institute, NSS Unit and Taluka legal services committee and Bar Association, Hubli.
· On the eve of International Women’s Day a Legal Literacy Programme was organized in Chennaveera Sharanara Andharara Ashrama, Navanagar on 8th march 2011.
· A Legal Aid/Literacy programme was organized for villagers on 07-01-11 in Budarasingi in association with NSS unit of P. C. Jabin Science College, Hubli along with Taluka legal services committee, Hubli.

Orientation programmes and workshops
· A Personality Development workshop was held on “How to become a successful advocate” by Shri. D. Venkatesh, Advocate and Tax Consultant, High Court of Karnataka, Bangalore on 27th august 2010.· One day workshop for members of Gram Panchayats of Hubli Taluk on “Panchayatraj System: Challenges & Issues” was organized by the college in association with Karnataka Institute for Law and Parliamentary Reforms, Bangalore on 23rd February 2011. Hon’ble Shri. Jagadish Shettar, Minister, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore was the chief guest. More that 200 panchayat members were present on the occasion and participated actively in interaction with the resource persons.
· On the occasion of golden jubilee celebration of Karnataka Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi, Bangalore the college in association with Karnataka State Law University, Karnataka Liquor control board, Karnataka Gandhi smaraka nidhi orgainsed a Dharwad District Meet and Special Lecture Series no. 22 on 26th April 2011. Gandhian and President of Karnataka Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Shri. Ho. Shrinivasayya was the chief guest. Dr. J. S. Patil, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Karnataka State Law University was the speaker. Dr. Patil Puttappa presided over the function.
· One day workshop on IT management in legal education and legal profession was held on 03-05-2011 at IMSR. Dr. M. I. Savadatti, Founder Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University was the chief guest. Dr. J. S. Patil, Vice Chancellor, Karnataka State Law University presided over the function.

We feel very proud to report that this year we have arranged a series of lectures on various subjects of national and international importance by men of eminence in the field.
· Hon’ble Dr. Justice V. S. Malimath, former Chief Justice of Karnataka and Kerala High Courts and Hon’ble Chairman, Karnataka Law Commission, Bangalore visited the college and there was an interaction session with the students on 28-08-2010.
· “Special Lecture and Interactive Programme” On 21st October 2010, at 9:00 a.m. on “Vyavastha parivartan ki ore” by Hon’ble Shri. K. N. Govindachar founder, Bharat Vikas Sangam, and Rasthriya Svabhimana Andolan, New Delhi. Guest of honour Shri. Basavaraj patil Sedam, ex. M.P., Gulbarga All India Convener, Bharat Vikas Sangam also spoke.
· Dr. J. S. Patil, Vice Chancellor, Karnataka State Law University, Hubli visited the college, delivered lecture and interacted with the students on the topic “Legal Profession, Legal Education, and Human Values” on 16-9-2010.
· Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Pro Vice Chancellor, Jain University, Bangalore delivered lecture on “Democracy and Dynamics of Elections in India” on 21-09-2010.
· Hon’ble Mr. Justice H. N. Nagmohan Das, Judge, High Court of Karnataka delivered a Lecture on Skills of Advocacy & Values for a Lawyer on 3rd March 2011 at Zonal Level N.S.S. Camp held at Gokul Village.
· Dr. Ravindranath Shanbhag, President, Human Rights Foundation, Udupi spoke on “Effects of Endosulfan” on 24th march 2011.
· Shri. M. K. Matolli, Lecturer, Government Law College, Hassan delivered special lectures on “Intellectual Property Law” and “Succession under Mohammadan Law” on 1st May 2011.

8 / To conduct monthly interclass moot court competitions and one Annual moot court competition. / Odd Semester
I Inter class moot court competition was held on “Right to Privacy” on 21st October 2010. Miss. Amruta Bangarshettar, Mr. Safal Huli and Jyoti Patil were winners. Shri. M. G. Malavade, Advocate, Hubli was the moot judge.
In place of II inter class moot court competition we have organized A Model Parliament on 21st September 2010 “Right to Vote”. Nearly 45 students actively and aggressively participated. Hon’ble Shri. Prahlad Joshi, Member of Parliament (Dharwad south) was the presiding officer of the House. A miniature Parliament was created. It aroused lot of interest amongst our students. The students were trained and guided by Shri. G. R. Andanimath, Senior Advocate, Hubli. Miss. Amruta Bangarshettar, Mr. Bapugouda Biradar and Miss. Savitri Gani were the declared Best Parliamentarians.
III Inter class moot court competition was held on “Merger of companies” on 20th November 2010. Mr. Nandan Shanbhag, Mr. Pradeep Pawadigoudar, Miss. Rekha Patil. Our alumnus Miss. Seema Naik, advocate, High Court of Karnataka, Bangalore was the moot judge.
Even Semester
I Inter class moot court competition was held on 10th February 2011 “Educational qualification for politicians” Miss. Amruta Bangarshettar, Mr. Safal Huli and Mr. Prashant Kale were the winners. Shri. Vidhyadhar Shirahatti, Advocate, Belgaum was the moot judge.
II Inter class moot court competition was held on 19th March 2011 on “sting operations”. Miss. Sabiya Jamkhan Mr. Amrut Jois and Miss. Savitri Gani were the winners. Our Alumnus Smt. Ashwini Shiriyannavar, advocate, Hubli was the moot judge.
Mock Trial was held under the guidance of Shri. Subhash Rathod on 20-04-2011 on “Cruelty by the husband”. A miniature Court Room was created by the students. Shri. B. L. Jinnaralkar, III Additional Civil Judge (Sr. Dn.) Hubli was the presiding officer.
