GRP Workgroup Conference Call June 9, 2009
Membership Notes
Harry Chichester has replaced Sonja as Ecology representative. Ecology is no longer co- chairing workgroup. Don would like to discuss this issue with the group later to see if we need a co-chair.
Other new additions to the workgroup include Heather Parker (USCG), Greg Weigel (EPA), Justin Piper (Cowlitz Clean Sweep) and Peter Witt (Enviro-Spatial GIS Consulting).
The Navy has not yet decided on a replacement for Tammy Brown
Dale Davis and Rebecca Post are no longer part of membership
Updates to Chap 4000
Chap 4400 has been edited…please review during open review period and make comments as necessary.
Response Technology Workgroup is still submitting material for Chap 4000…please review new guidance in-situ burn section
Gasoline Response Policy 4640 is being revised to consistently treat otherflammable liquids such as ethanol. Don asked that other workgroup members take a look at this. This chapter is being interpreted differently by different user groups, so the language may need to be revised for the next NWACP update.
Need to develop criteria for economic resources. Not sure who should be putting these criteria together. At one time there had been a suggestion to create a sub-group of the GRP Workgroup to handle this task. BT suggested that the list drafted for 3510 be floated to the NWAC to see if it would work for those who will be playing the role of FOSC or SOSC. Jeff Christensen recommended putting this topic on the agenda for the next face-to-face meeting, given the complexity of the issue and the number of new members on the workgroup. Ken Duncan will check to see if Corps has an economic expert. Heather is also interested in helping out.
GRP Workgroup Charter/Action Plan Review
Don asked that everyone review these two documents on the RRT10/NWAC website. (Please provide input on status of action items…or any new action items for consideration to Don)
Update on WA GRP Development (info via Dan McDonald)
Harry Chichester has been working on the Spokane River GRP update.
Workplan being developed for updating Grays Harbor and Skykomish River GRP’s this year.
Harry is working on Ecology’s GIS issues, but Dan doesn’t have the details on this.
Update on OR GRP Development
OR is working on identifying what data are needed to make their GRP’s consistent with Washington’s. Don will get with Harry (and Greg Weigel) to talk about this.
Yaquina, Coos & Tillamook Bay figures have been acquired from the USCG. Don will post draft chapters for these areas. There have been some technical problems getting the geodatabase from the CG, but Don expects those to be resolved in the near future. The geodatabase will be used to create the detailed booming strategy description for Ch. 4.
Next GRP Workgroup Meeting
Next meeting tentatively set for September 23rd. Don will check with Harry to see if Ecology has a meeting room available.
