Teddy Bear Clinic—Riverview Hospital.
Four students of Faye Overgaard’s class participated in the Teddy Bear Clinic this fall. The Teddy Bear Clinic is a two hour session provided for toddlers and their parents invited to Riverview Hospital for an introduction to what it is like to be in the hospital and or see a nurse or a doctor. Toddlers and parents go through multiple stations for temperature taking, listening to their heart; wheelchair ride; see x-rays; and have their height and weight taken.
Teddy Bear Clinic is very popular and toddlers are more relaxed if/when they have to go to the hospital. The following four students, Joey Brouse; Carol Plante; Laura Rock; Sarah Lee, readily volunteered for an evening of "teaching" toddlers. Students had the opportunity to interact with toddlers and their parents. The experience was positive for both toddlers and students.
