TRANSITION: Skills & Resources

TRANSITION: Skills and Resources

Highline School District

2003

The attached document was developed by a group of teachers from HSD Middle Schools and High Schools. The purpose of the document is to identify resources that may already be in schools and readily available to support staff as they teach transition concepts at the secondary level.

Although the Transition Cohort developed a course called: Transition Paths, had it approved by the district C and I Department, and developed a Course Organizer and Unit organizers, the Transition Cohort members wanted to address Transition in a way that honored existing courses and norms. It is not always appropriate to offer a separate class, so the members wanted to identify skills and resources that may be embedded in other program areas that would support a student in the identification and provision of Transition services.
