Success Kidz Assistant Teacher Job Description

Expectations:

The Assistant Teacher helps to implement a program of developmentally appropriate activities under the direct supervision of a Lead Teacher.

Job Qualifications:

· Have a high school diploma (or equivalent)

· Completion of 20 hours SUTQ training preferred or willingness to acquire 20 hours SUTQ training or wavier with-in first months of employment

· Willingness to complete 10 hours of SUTQ training annually

· Knowledge of and ability to implement developmentally appropriate, multicultural, and bias free curriculum

· Able to lift and potentially carry a child weighing up to 50 lbs

· Able to routinely kneel, bend, crouch, and sit on the floor for extended periods of time

· Have good written and verbal communication skills.

· Access to a reliable source of transportation

Job Responsibilities:

· Assist the LT in providing a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to promote the child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development

· Supervise and monitor children at all times; this includes toileting, transitions to/from classroom, outdoor time and on field trips.

· Manage children’s behavior using positive guidance techniques; limit setting, clear and consistent expectations, and self-control.

· Assist the LT in maintaining emergency contact and health information for children, implement Health Plans if applicable, maintain attendance sheets with drop off/pick up times, report late pick up to admin team, turn in attendance sheets by COB Friday, keep classroom binder with you at all times and maintain cot chart

· Report all activities that may potentially effect Success Kidz andmaintain confidentially with regard to all customers and staff members (this includes but is not limited to information regarding pay rates, raises, reviews, bonuses, derogatory remarks made about co-workers/the admin team, participating in gossip)

· Act and dress in a professional manner at all times in and outside of the company

· Work with all other staff members in a cooperative manner. Communicate regularly with the LT and be open to constructive feedback and ideas

· Be punctual (arrival after 7 minutes of shift start time is considered late)

· Report to admin any equipment or supplies that need to be ordered or replaced. Ensure all outlets are covered at the beginning and end of your shift

· Ensure cleanliness of your classroom, building and outside play areas. This is especially important when leaving your room for any reason. Friday’s are deep cleaning days (cots/classrooms) sanitized

· Appropriately complete (and have LT review) incident reports when applicable

· Adhere to all requirements relating to food service such as, hand washing, documenting meal counts at the time of the meal, encouraging children to try a variety of foods, posting current menus and nutritional information and using meal time as an opportunity for conversation and learning
