5a.4 Qualified Faculty
What contemporary professional experiences do higher education clinical faculty members have in school settings?
Higher education clinical faculty members demonstrate contemporary professional experience through their expertise in K-12 classroom activities complemented by teaching methods courses that implement the latest educational trends (Professional Education Faculty Members). As well, they provide professional development workshops to K -12 teachers and students at the local, state, and national level (Professional Development Activities). Furthermore, as stated in the Partnership Memorandum of Understanding, the clinical faculty members attend and provide professional development which ensures that K-12 teachers are kept abreast of the most current methodologies that meet the needs of a diverse student population. The higher education clinical faculty members have active memberships serving in several capacities such as, board representatives for Bishop Noll High School, Diocese of Gary, and St. John Evangelist. We also have a faculty member who served as school principal at Campagna Academy and another faculty member that currently serves as president-elect for the Northwest Indiana Reading Council. The clinical faculty members have been classroom teachers as well as administrators and continue to work closely with schools through observations, workshops, supervision, and leadership.
