INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION

SR 14 SPUR AT CR 411/UPPER BIG SPRINGS ROAD

The Troup County Board of Commissioners is soliciting sealed bids for turn-key construction of road intersection improvements and the installation of a stop and go traffic signal at the intersection of SR 14 Spur at CR 411/Upper Big Springs Road until 3:00 p.m., June 17, 2011. This solicitation is limited to contractors who have been prequalified by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Bids must be submitted to the Troup County Purchasing Department, 100 Ridley Avenue, Suite 3100, LaGrange, GA 30240 in a sealed envelope clearly marked “Traffic Signal at SR 14 & Upper Big Springs Road”. The required bid response form is available at www.troupcountyga.org. All work is to be performed in accordance with current GDOT specifications. Troup County is a tax exempt government agency. Sales and use tax will be the responsibility of the successful bidder. Pay applications will be allowed monthly and payment will be made within 14 days of approval of pay application. This project schedule calls for completion within 6 months of contract signing. Consideration will be given for abnormal delays caused by utility relocations and unusual weather.

Bids are to include all labor and materials to complete this project per GDOT plans dated and submitted 5/16/11. The plans are available at ftp.dot.state.ga.us/dotftp/district3/Upper Big Springs Rd.

A 5% bid bond must be submitted with each bid. A 100% payment, performance and public liability bond will be required from the successful bidder. All sureties must be authorized by the Insurance Commissioner of Georgia to do business in Georgia or must be on the United States Treasury’s list of approved bond sureties. The surety must provide proof of authorization by the Insurance Commissioner of Georgia to do business in Georgia or proof of its being on the United States Treasury’s list of approved bond sureties.

Every bidder must provide with the bid a notarized E-Verify affidavit as well as a notarized SAVE affidavit. The contractor will provide a notarized E-Verify affidavit as well as a notarized SAVE affidavit for each sub-contractor within five days for hiring the sub-contractor. The successful bidder must execute a written oath stating that he or she has not violated O.C.G.A. §36-91-21(e) regarding unlawful restriction of competitive bidding.
