Smithsonian American Art Museum – Summer Internship

The Summer Program provides an introduction to museum work for undergraduate students who have little or no previous museum experience.

Since 1968, the Smithsonian American Art Museum's internship programs have provided instruction and inspiration to hundreds of graduate and undergraduate students, as well as others seeking self-enrichment. Former interns have achieved success in professional positions in the art and museum fields, both nationally and internationally.

The Heritage Foundation Internship Program attracts young conservative leaders of the highest caliber. The sponsor trains, equips, and develops tomorrow’s young conservative leaders during their time at Heritage. Carolina Raptor Center – Summer Internship (2 positions)

Carolina Raptor Center is preparing for another great year of our summer free-flight show and education programming. The Wild Wings education interns will be involved in many aspects of our education and bird care department, from stage performances to raptor care and training. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

- Learn to present dynamic education programs using live raptors

- Assist with all aspects of raptor care from feeding, cleaning, health checks and training sessions using operant conditioning techniques

- Onstage and backstage duties for summer free-flight show

- Assist staff as needed

- Complete one personal project

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have completed at least their freshman year of college. College graduates are welcome to apply. Candidates should be flexible, friendly, and comfortable spending their days outdoors. A successful candidate will have commitment and excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with dynamic situations.

Two positions are available: Stipend and housing provided

These positions will run May 13, 2013 through September 6, 2013 (beginning date can be flexible)

Project Title and Project Objective: Specific tasks will include providing support for account reconciliations, audit defense efforts and reviewing returns prepared by our compliance provider. Desired Skills: The Transaction Tax Intern must have familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word in order to work in spreadsheet files or to create memoranda to file. The Tax Intern must be well organized, able to multitask, proactive and must be able to read and comprehend tax return instructions. Good communications skills are a prerequisite. The Tax Intern must be a team player and be proactive in working projects with others.
