Saint Anselm All Star
Colleen Clarency
Colleen was raised in Kensington and made her First Holy Communion at Nativity BVM Church. In 1993, she married her husband Elwood at Ascension of Our Lord Church and moved to Saint Anselm Parish. Colleen and Elwood have three children enrolled in Saint Anselm School: Megan (grade 8), Sean (grade 6 and Jenna (grade 3).
Colleen is involved in many aspects of parish life. Colleen is the coordinator for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word, volunteers for the Race for Education, Hot Lunch, Box Top Collections, the Christmas Bazaar and the Book Fair. She assists with the Vacation Bible School. Colleen also has worked with Deacon Whartenby on a Special Needs CCD. Always willing to help wherever she is needed, Colleen has been inspired by her neighbor, Heidi Baranyos, a person who is devoted to her faith and parish. She credits Father Dunleavy as a spiritual guide for her and others in the parish.
One of Colleen’s fondest memories is from 2009 when she and her family, along with the Hines family, had the opportunity to deliver Christmas ornaments to parish shut-ins. She remembers being welcomed in so many of their homes with a smile, where they shared memories and even Christmas cookies. The shut-ins enjoyed the carols sung by the Clarency and Hines Families.
Colleen is so thankful and proud to be a part of such a caring, loving and faith-filled community.
As a parish and school, we are most grateful to Colleen for her time, talents and dedication, particularly to our children.
