Troy University Foundation Scholarships: If you have applied to Troy, you can apply for these scholarships provided by donors to Troy. Qualifications and amounts vary, but the deadline for all is 3/31/14.

Shelton State Community College Foundation Scholarships: Various awards and various requirements for multiple foundation scholarships using one application. Deadline is 3/6/14.

University of North Alabama History Scholarship Competition: $250-$750 awards from this written competition on U.S. and World History. Date of competition on UNA Campus is 3/8/14.

Samford University Kenny Morgan Scholarship: This is $2,000 per year for students demonstrating scholarship, character, leadership and service. Those with a background in athletics, dance, band, or cheerleading are strongly encouraged to apply. Deadline is 2/22/14.

Jefferson State Academic Full Tuition Scholarship: Twenty of these will be awarded to students with a minimum of 22 ACT and 3.0 GPA. Application to Jeff State and for this scholarship can be found online at www.jeffstateonline.com. Deadline is 3/1/14.

University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History Scholarship: Three full-tuition academic awards will be given to students planning to major in studio art or art history. Awards are based on the quality of the student’s work. Deadline is 2/4/14.

Savannah College of Art and Design Distinguished Scholar: $20,000 renewable award requires 27 ACT, 3.75 GPA, leadership, and outstanding visual arts, performing arts, writing or riding capabilities. Deadline is 2/15/14.

University of Montevallo James Harrell Poetry Scholarship: Submit an original, unpublished poem for a chance to win $1,000-$2,000 in scholarship money. Deadline is 2/1/14.

Jefferson State Ambassador Program: A prestigious group serving as official hosts and hostesses for the college. It requires maintaining a 3.0 GPA and being self motivated, involved, and interested in leadership. Most Ambassadors received full tuition and fees. Deadline is 3/1/14.

Robertson Scholars Leadership Program at Duke and UNC Chapel Hill: Eighteen awards to Duke and eighteen to Chapel Hill of full scholarships for students with outstanding academic potential and character, plus clear abilities toward impacting their community and the world. Sewanee Guarisco Scholarship for Art and Art History: This is full tuition plus stipends for students pursuing art or art history who have demonstrated extraordinary artistic promise. Deadline is 12/15/13.

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ANY SCHOOL:

Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is for students who desire to study the building trades at any 2 yr., 4 yr. or technical school in Alabama. Amount is not given, but more information and applications can be found at www.ahbfoundation.org. Deadline is 3/15/14.

Kohls Cares Scholarship: For students in all grades. $50.00-$10.000 in awards for an exceptional volunteer effort within the last year. Deadline is 3/15/14.

AES Engineers Scholarship: $500 for answering an essay question at www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline has been extended to 10/4/13.

Herb Hanes-Bill Sparks Scholarship: This is $2,500 for a student attending a college in Alabama who participated in an athletic related activity. Deadline is 4/22/14.

Delta Sigma Theta, Birmingham Chapter Scholarship: Amount is not given but this requires a 3.0 GPA, 20 ACT, Leadership, and Communication Skills. Deadline is 3/25/14.

Buick Achievers Scholarship: Up to $25,000 per year for students who are dedicated to making positive changes in their community. They should be majoring in science/math/engineering/technology or business and pursuing an automotive career. Deadline is 2/28/14.

American Society of Civil Engineers, Birmingham Branch: This award is for students in Central Alabama who will attend a civil engineering program at a college in Alabama. Specific requirements and amount is not given. Deadline is 4/2/14.

National Society of Black Engineers, Birmingham Alumni Extension: Amount of award is not given, but this is for Birmingham Metro area black students and it is intended to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically and professionally, and positively impact the community. Deadline is 3/8/14.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Phi Iota Omega Chapter: Two different scholarships are available to Metro Birmingham students. One is for Community Service and one is for Merit Scholarship. No other specific amounts or requirements are given. Each will require semifinalists to interview with their committee. Recipients will also establish mentoring bonds with the Chapter. American Association of Blacks in Energy Scholarship: This is $5,000 locally for a minority student with financial need who will study in an energy related field in college. It also requires a 3.0 GPA, involvement and achievement. Deadline is 3/1/14.

American Association of Blacks in Energy-Principal’s Choice Award. This is $750 locally for a striving student with a 2.0 GPA who shows great potential. Should be studying in an energy related field. Deadline is 3/1/14.

International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) Scholarship: This is for student studying in a business-related field. Amount is not given, but it requires a 2.5 GPA, one-page essay, and reference letter. Deadline is 2/14/14.

Future Skilled Workers of America Award: This is from the Go Build Alabama program and it is $1,000 for Juniors and Seniors pursuing a construction career and enrolling in related technical courses. It will be given once each month through April 2014 and students will be highlighted on the Go Build Alabama website. Deadline is 4/5/14.

A.L. Bratcher Scholarship from the Educators Community Credit Union: This is a $1,000 award and applicants have to be a eCO member with an account in good standing. Deadline is 3/1/14.

Ayn Rand Essay Contest: For all grades. Write an essay on the specified Rand novel. Deadline is 5/6/14.

CollegeCounts Scholarship: This is from the Alabama Office of State Treasurer and it is $4,000 for a 4-yr college and $2,000 for a 2-yr community or technical school in Alabama. It requires 2.75 GPA, ACT of 26 OR BELOW, and financial need. This award is intended for students who do not qualify for many of the higher requirement awards. Deadline is 3/7/14.

Distinguished Young Women: This is the former Junior Miss program for 11th grade girls. It is an opportunity to earn scholarships through various competitions. Deadline is 3/1/14.

BigSun Scholarship: This is $500 for a student involved in any athletic endeavor in school or the community. Information available at www.bigsunathletics.com. Deadline is 6/21/14.

Mensa Essay Scholarship Competition: You do not need any affiliation with Mensa for this essay competition. Just write an essay of fewer than 550 words describing your goals. Application is online at www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships. Deadline is 1/15/14.

Allstate Keep the Drive Journalism Awards: $7,500 will be divided among 6 awards nationally for written articles or created broadcasts on safe teen driving. Deadline is 3/1/14.

Foot Locker Scholar Athletes: This is $20,000 which will be given to student athletes for their character and commitment to volunteerism. Deadline is 12/5/13.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship for Minorities: Several $24,000 awards over 4 years for minority students with a 22 ACT, leadership potential, community service and financial need. Application will be available online November 1 at JackieRobinson.org. Deadline is 2/15/14.

Thomas E. Huey, Jr. Memorial Scholarship from BLSA: $1,000 given to one student each year based on 50% financial need, 40% grades (Min. B avg), 10% achievements. Deadline is 1/4/14.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship: $10,000 renewable award for promising young leaders who also demonstrate exemplary drive, integrity, and citizenship. Deadline is 1/10/14.

Alabama Association of Federal Education Program Administrators (AAFEPA): Two $1,500 awards. One is for an education major. Both require activities, leadership, financial need, 300 word essay and rec letters. Deadline is 10/22/13.

Linly Heflin Scholarship: This is a $3,000/yr renewable scholarship for females attending a college in Alabama. It requires a 23 ACT and financial need. Deadline is 1/11/14.
