Herb Hanes-Bill Sparks Scholarship: This is $2,500 for a student attending a college in Alabama who participated in an athletic related activity. Deadline is 4/22/14.

Delta Sigma Theta, Birmingham Chapter Scholarship: Amount is not given but this requires a 3.0 GPA, 20 ACT, Leadership, and Communication Skills. Deadline is 3/25/14.

Buick Achievers Scholarship: Up to $25,000 per year for students who are dedicated to making positive changes in their community. They should be majoring in science/math/engineering/technology or business and pursuing an automotive career. Deadline is 2/28/14.

American Society of Civil Engineers, Birmingham Branch: This award is for students in Central Alabama who will attend a civil engineering program at a college in Alabama. Specific requirements and amount is not given. Deadline is 4/2/14.

National Society of Black Engineers, Birmingham Alumni Extension: Amount of award is not given, but this is for Birmingham Metro area black students and it is intended to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically and professionally, and positively impact the community. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Phi Iota Omega Chapter: Two different scholarships are available to Metro Birmingham students. One is for Community Service and one is for Merit Scholarship. No other specific amounts or requirements are given. Each will require semifinalists to interview with their committee. Recipients will also establish mentoring bonds with the Chapter.
