Hot Rod and Harleys’ September 9th

This was the next to the last Show’n Shine at McDonald’s on 40th ave. As a club we decided to try to do an ‘all out’ showing of our Mustangs. There were 9 club members present. We received several positive remarks concerning our cars as well as the information we had concerning our coming show.

At this point I would like to note congratulations to club member David Hawkins for his new possession of his 1994 Mustang GT convertible. David has been looking for a replacement of his other Mustang for some time. Congratulations to David.

Harrah Parade, September 10th

Amy and I attended the Harrah parade. This was a small parade with approx 45 entrants. There were several floats and one marching band. It was a hot day with temperatures close to 100 degrees. There were a lot of people in attendance along the route and seemed to be taking the heat better than Amy and I enclosed in our coupe. We received a blue ribbon on our car.

Naches Sportsman’s Day Parade; September 10th

The weather was great to be out with our Mustangs. I'm sure it was our best representation for a parade. Sixteen Mustangs participated in this parade.

Creekside Bar and Grill, September 12th

This was a very small, free, car show’n shine with about 15 cars total. The bar and grill gave each person with a car at the show with a 15% off coupon for anything on their menu. Amy and I arrived shortly after the gates opened at 4 pm and left at 6:30 (the end of the show was listed for 8 pm).

October fun run - Sunday 10-23-11 Meet at Bi-Mart on 40th Ave at 10 AM

It’s a trip up to Gold Creek on Hwy 410 (Chinook Pass) for lunch and to see the fall leaves changing color. This is a low-key drive with lunch, followed by going to Thompson farms just out of Naches to watch them shoot pumpkins out of a couple of air cannons. There are lots of activities at Thompson Farms.

Thompson's Farm info:

This next weekend we begin the pumpkin patch apple fest hoopla that finishes up the harvest for Thompson's Farm we have school tours during the week and on the weekends of October, there is music from John's almost live band, hayrides, corn maze, pumpkin donuts, u-pick pumpkins, u-pick apples, and fired on the hour John's Pumpkin cannons (you don't want to miss that) and whatever else we can think of so come by and help finish up the season.

5th Annual NW Roush Owners GTG Sept 24th

I’ve never seen so many Roush’s together, much let watching the people watch us as the Pony Trails Poker Run would around Lacy, Olympia, Tumwater and then all the way out to Aberdeen where 5 Star Ford hosted a nice BBQ for us. The run included a photo op at the State Capital. Plus, there was some twisty windy back county roads where the ponies got to stretch their legs a bit… not too much, but enough to hear a few superchargers wind up.

Ponies in the Park / Mustangs West Sept 25

Mark attended this show and took 3rd place in the Roush Specialty Class (P51s, Trac-Packs, Black Jacks, etc). Due to the 5th Annual NW Roush Owners GTG, completion was steep! The other Roush P51 took 2nd, and a Roush Black Jack took first. This was a very nice car show with more than 200 cars. However, the weather was not cooperative. It was raining when I got up, raining in the morning, then some sun mid-morning, but it was pretty much wind and rain after 11 AM. At times the rain coming down hard! But, over a nice Mustang show in a nice park setting.

Some safe driving hints;

1.  When coming up to a long line of cars stopped at either a light or stop sign remember to not block any road intersection prior to the light or stop sign. If you do block the intersection you might end blocking any emergency vehicles that might need to use this intersection.

2.  When driving down a four lane road and you see someone on your right who might be trying to enter the roadway, merge to the inside lane to possibly assist them with this merge. Like-wise if you see someone on your left trying to enter the road you’re on drive to the outside lane, keeping the inside lane open for them to safely merge.

3.  Driving on a freeway, remember to look up to the on ramp to see if any vehicles might be coming to merge onto the freeway. Try not to have them surprise you so you will have more time to move over for them if necessary.

4.  Speaking of merging vehicles; just because you might be driving in the inside lane on a freeway doesn’t mean you don’t need to make some sort of attempt to allow the person on your right the room to allow merging vehicles room to merge.

THE BROKEN LAWN MOWER:

When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the truck, the car, playing golf, Always something more important to me. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors… I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, 'When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway.'

The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

My wife and I were sitting at a table at her high school reunion, and she kept staring at a drunken man swigging his drink as he sat alone at a nearby table. I asked her, 'Do you know him?' 'Yes,' she sighed, ‘He’s my old boyfriend... I understand he took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear he hasn't been sober since.' 'My God!' I said, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'

And that's when the fight started...

I rear-ended a car this morning... So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it... he was a DWARF!!! He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!' So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'

And that's when the fight started...

Well, Amy and I are currently located at Prescott, Arizona. We are working at a Christian camp called Prescott Pines. While visiting Amy’s sister and her husband in Montana we replaced the wheel bearings on the tow dolly and needed to get some welding done it’s frame. Parking brakes gave out somewhere in Montana so now every time we park the motor home (for gas, etc.) Amy has to get out and place a block of wood infront of or behind a wheel to stop the motor home from rolling. Should maybe get this repaired….
