SALARY: $9.50 per hour

SCHEDULE: 20 to 25 hours per week. Must be able to work varying hours.Hours of pool operation: Monday - Sunday 9am- 7pm.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 16 years of age or older at time of appointment.Experience working with the public, cash handling experience, and ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.

LICENSE): Must possess avalid California driver’s license;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must have knowledge of: basic arithmetic, basic operations of a cash register, first aid principles and practices; techniques and procedures for organization. . Must have ability to:learn the duties of the pool cashier, make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy; maintain accurate records, prepare and submit reports; perform maintenance and cleaning services of pool; maintain and work safely with a variety of equipment; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; read and write at the level required for successful job performance.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES:Only the most qualified will be invited for anInterview to evaluate their experience, training and qualifications. Candidates must pass this Interview to be considered for employment.

QUALIFICATIONS APPRAISAL INTERVIEW DATES: Interviews have been tentatively scheduled for the week of May 4th, 2015.

SELECTION PROCESS:Employment history verifications will be conducted to assist in selection of candidate. The selected candidate will receive a tentative job offer which is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a City paid pre-placement examination (includes drug screening). Initial appointment is conditional upon background check and verification of U.S. Citizenship or right to work in the United States. All City employees will be required to submit to an Oath of Office and will be classified as Disaster Services Workers.This position is subject to and dependent on the continued availability of funds and the manpower needs of the City of Bell Gardens.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the Pool Manager, Assistant Pool Managerand/or Sr. Lifeguard, to collect money from swimming pool customers; to maintain a variety of records; to receive and maintain the security of the personal effects of customers using the City pool; to assist with swim lessons; to keep locker room areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition; and perform other work related duties as assigned.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Receives fees for swimming pool activities; operates a cash register and issues change; verifies height, eligibility and age requirements for participants; monitors locker rooms and desk area; assists in cleaning the pool; maintains records of opening and closing amounts of cash and total collected and prepare reports; assists in monitoring customer behavior; explains and enforces pool facility regulations, polices and procedures; may perform incidental duties related to publicizing pool operations and activities; issues personal effects bags to customers; keeps all assigned locker room and related areas in a clean, safe, orderly condition; cleans and disinfects toilets, sinks, and drains; hoses down and sweeps floors; cleans mirrors and windows; fills soap and paper dispensers; empties trash cans; uses a variety of cleaning chemicals; maintains equipment use in work; observes safe work practices.
