Report on the 3rd quarter of fiscal 2012/2013:

Bertrandt still on a stable growth trajectory

(Ehningen, 14 August 2013) The Bertrandt Group continued on its stable growth trajectory in the first nine months of fiscal 2012/2013. Against a backdrop of disparate market conditions Bertrandt generated revenues of EUR 570.2 million (previous year EUR 518.0 million). This is equivalent to growth of
10.1 percent. Operating profit (EBIT) climbed to
EUR 55.8 million (previous year EUR 53.2 million), while post-tax profit came to EUR 39.2 million (previous year
EUR 37.1 million). As at the reporting date, Bertrandt had
10,499 employees (previous year 9,555).

Technological and model diversity bolsters demand for engineering services

CEO Dietmar Bichler attributes the sustained strong demand for engineering services to a broader range of models and technological diversity. For example, the trend towards greater environment-friendly mobility is boosting the optimisation and development of different kinds of drives. “Moreover, the focus is on the entire vehicle, such as the body, with the current interest in weight-saving manufacturing,” explained Bichler. “As a technology specialist with skills encompassing the entire vehicle, Bertrandt is benefiting from this.”

Against this backdrop, the Bertrandt Group performed well in the first nine months of its 2012/2013 fiscal year, with revenues rising by 10.1 percent to EUR 570.2 million during the period under review (previous year EUR 518.0 million). Operating profit was increased from EUR 53.2 million to EUR 55.8 million, while post-tax profit came to EUR 39.2 million (previous year EUR 37.1 million). At
EUR 23.6 million, capital spending remained at a high level (previous year EUR 31.3 million). Examples include the new electronics centre of competence in Wolfsburg, new testing facilities in Mönsheim as well as modern hydropuls test fields and climate chambers at various locations.

With its broad-based and detailed engineering skills encompassing the entire vehicle and its solid financial base, Bertrandt is well positioned to satisfy market and customer requirements and to generate further growth in the future.

As a result, the number of staff rose by 944 to 10,499 as at 30 June 2013 (30 June 2012: 9,555). “We offer interesting career possibilities along the entire engineering process chain and in different sectors,” says Dietmar Bichler.
