2. Enforcement of Student Senate Elections regulations,

3. Hiring an Elections Commissioner,

4. Advertising and promoting the elections and student voting, and

5. Ensuring that the elections are fair and honest.

This application, along with your Dean’s Certification of Enrollment Stamp, must be retuned no later than 5 p.m. ASAP in the Student Senate office, 410 Kansas Union. Interviews will be held by appointment upon completion of application. You will be contacted by phone and/or email to schedule your interview with the Elections Commission Nomination Committee. Contact Chief of Staff Danny Summers, , with any questions.

The Elections Commission Chair shall:

A.  Preside over Commission meetings, and shall vote only to make or break a tie,

B.  Serve as spokesperson for the Elections Commission,

C.  Represent the Elections Commission in other organizations,

D.  In conjunction with the Elections Commission and Commissioner, submit a report describing and evaluating the conduct of the election to the Student Executive Committee, while providing future recommendations, and

E.  In conjunction with the Elections Commission, certify to the Student Executive Committee that the results are valid and free from any material distortion.

The Elections Commission Outreach Chair shall:

A. Be charged with creating a plan to increase voter turnout by utilizing all available means to promote and advertise the election in a non-partisan nature.

B. Towards this purpose, the Outreach Chair will have the advertising budget of the Elections Commission at his or her oversight.
