Sadiqa N. Reynolds is the Inspector General in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services as appointed by Governor Steve Beshear in January 2008. Mrs. Reynolds is an attorney who managed her private practice for many years serving as Guardian Ad Litem representing abused, neglected and dependent children. Mrs. Reynolds legal practice included several other practice areas including successful appellate work in the Federal court system, as well as an emphasis in litigation.

Prior to being appointed Inspector General, she served as an Assistant Director of the Division of Public Works and Assets with Louisville Metro Government. Earlier in her career with Louisville Metro Government, Mrs. Reynolds served as Chief of Staff of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. Her experience also includes positions as Assistant District Defender in the Jefferson District Public Defender’s Office and serving as the first African American woman to clerk for the Kentucky Supreme Court. Reynolds served as Chief Law Clerk of the Kentucky Supreme Court under Chief Justice Robert F. Stephens.

In addition, she has worked extensively in the Jefferson County Family Drug Court program and is a former member of the Louisville Bar Association’s Board of Directors. Mrs. Reynolds has also served for several years as a continuing legal education instructor for the Kentucky Bar Association.

Mrs. Reynolds holds a law degree from the University Of Kentucky College Of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Louisville. She has served on the Board of the Home of the Innocents and was appointed by Governor Beshear to serve on the Early Childhood Task Force designed to provide a comprehensive review of the delivery of early childhood development and education services in Kentucky and recommending improvements to the system.

As Inspector General, Mrs. Reynolds is working to ensure regulatory compliance and integrity in programs and facilities responsible for providing quality health care in long term and non-long term settings, child caring and child-placing agencies, and related services to Kentucky citizens as well as ensuring equitable and fair treatment of those providing such services. Mrs. Reynolds is also responsible for the administration of the Kentucky All Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting system (KASPER).

Mrs. Reynolds is married and the mother of two daughters ages 3 and 2.
