Pressure Relief Cushion Process

Background Information

· Specialty cushions, such as a Roho, are property of the hospital and should NOT leave with the patient when they discharge.

· These cushions are hospital property and cost around $300 so must keep tight inventory control.

· We contract with a company to clean them and then put them back in circulation.

· Therapy Services issues the cushions for use while in the hospital and monitors use

· The cushions are labeled as belonging to Rehab Services or Acute Therapy- 2-8706.

· At discharge we come to pick up the cushion however we may be a delayed at times so we rely on nursing staff to help us keep track of the cushions.

What we need all staff to do

· When a patient is discharging please do NOT send the cushion with the patient.

· Phone to main therapy office 882-8706 and let us know a cushion is ready for pick up and then place in dirty utility closet. Someone from Therapy Services will be by to pick up the cushion.

· If ever have any questions about the cushions call Therapy Services 2-8706
