Press Release Incident: Motor Vehicle Crash

On Friday, January 13, 2012 the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash which occurred at approximately 08:39 am on Ocean Heights Avenue, in the area of Blackman Road, in the Scullville section of the township.
The 1999 Isuzu Rodeo operated by , Richard J. Brummet Jr. 47 years of age of Egg Harbor Township, was proceeding West on Ocean Heights Avenue when his vehicle was struck by a 2009 Toyota Corolla which had crossed the center line. The 2009 Toyota operated by Curtis Dilks, 38 years of age from Mays Landing, was proceeding East on Ocean Heights Avenue when it crossed the double yellow line striking Brummet’s vehicle.
The impact caused the three occupants of the two vehicles to become entrapped and the “Jaws of Life” rescue tools were used by the Scullville and Bargaintown Fire Companies to remove them from the vehicles Brummet, Dilks and Dilks’ passenger, Dawn Casey (36 years of age from Mays Landing), were treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics and transported to AtlantiCare City Campus. All suffered minor to moderate injuries.
The roadway was closed to traffic for approximately an hour and a half, with the assistance of the Linwood Police Department, while the crash was being investigated and cleared. Dilks has been charged with failure to maintain his lane and failure to wear a seatbelt. The crash is being investigated by Officer Thomas Rocco.
