Abstracts:

Each student will be expected to read one to two science journals/magazine articles each nine weeks and write an abstract of each article. Below is a small list of journals/magazines from which you may obtain these articles. If you get an article from any other source, bring them in to be approved before you begin writing the abstract. Articles may not be older than three years from the date that the abstract is written. You will turn in your abstract, along with a copy of the journal or magazine article stapled to it. The abstract must follow the format given and will count as a daily work grade.

Preparing an Abstract

An abstract is a summary or synopsis of an article in a journal or magazine. The purpose of preparing an abstract is to acquaint you with scientific literature and to expose you to current topics in biology.

Special Instructions:

· Articles to be abstracted must be at least one page (text) in length.

· Abstracts are to be typed and at least one page in length.

· Your name, date, and class period will go at the top right hand side of the abstract.

· Work cited must be included at the beginning of the abstract page in APA format. (see example below).

· Triple space between the citation & the start of your paper.
