Position: Technology Technician – Level I

Nature of Position: Under the direction of the Director of Technology, the Technology Technician – Level I team member, as a member of the technology support team, will share responsibility for incident-based end user support and is responsible for technology device, application, and training supports. The team member will install, maintain and provide direct end-user support for a variety of technology devices and applications in a school or office environment including travel between assigned work sites.

Certification/

Qualifications: 1. Applicant must be a highly motivated self-starter with ability to work individually and among teams to manage time and tasks, efficiently carrying out the below responsibilities.

2. Applicant must possess excellent management and communication skills in face-to-face and remote support environments.

3. Associate’s degree in Information Technology (IT) or equivalent experience.

4. IT certification preferred (CompTIA A+, Network+, MCSE)

5. Experience installing, imaging, maintaining, and troubleshooting issues with Microsoft Windows and Google Chrome.

6. Experience installing, imaging, maintaining, and troubleshooting issues with mobile devices.

7. General knowledge of LAN/WAN networking.

8. General knowledge of educational data systems and software helpful but not required.

9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary: $30,000-$35,000 annually dependent on qualifications and based on a 52-week calendar prorated with other benefits to be in accordance with the established Master Teacher Agreement or as approved by the MAISD Board of Education.

Terms of

Employment: First year may be prorated based on school year beginning July 1 and ending June 30 with any future renewal based on a 52-week calendar year.

Performance

Responsibilities: 1. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and/or repair district technology devices including computer hardware, software applications, and peripherals.

2. Respond quickly to support requests in a kind, courteous, and professional manner to maintain quality customer service.

3. Assist Network Administrator with basic Microsoft Windows server and client network administration.

4. Configure and manage collaborative cloud-based applications such as Google Apps for Education and/or Office 365.

5. Recommend upgrades and changes for technology improvement, cost savings, and effective use.

6. Provide basic training and demonstrations to educate staff in the use of new and existing technology used in an instructional environment.

7. Increase use of technology and facilitate staff’s integration of technology into their classroom curriculum.

8. Evaluate and recommend technology needs of local and intermediate school districts.

9. Monitor safe and proper use of technology in accordance with each district’s acceptable use policy.

10. Encourage collaborative efforts for economical purchasing and use of technology between local districts and MAISD.

11. Maintain inventory and documentation of technology systems and software applications in accordance with local school district business office standards.

12. Applicant must be able to travel between districts and buildings as needed for on-site support as determined by MAISD and the local school district.

13. Work hours are full time 40 hours per week with starting and ending times at the discretion of administration of the assigned work locations.

14. Other duties as assigned by the Technology Director.
