Position / Mental Health and Wellbeing Support Worker

General Accountabilities

Position Purpose
Mental Health and Wellbeing Support Worker will work within a recovery framework that focuses on assisting participants with developing and retaining social skills to maximise independence, quality of life and community participation.
The role will mainly support participants in their own home and will include assistance with all aspects of daily living as identified in their service agreements.
Roles Responsibilities / Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
As specified in individual service agreements participants may require help in the following areas:
·  Shopping
·  Travel training
·  Socialisation
·  Meal Preparation/Assistance
·  Light Housework
·  Laundry
·  Registering online with MyGov, Centrelink, NDIA and e-health
·  Occasionally attending medical appointments
·  Administration assistance / All tasks are performed to accepted standards as evidenced in supervision sessions.
Maintain client documentation
·  Maintain all participant documentation, accurate records / ·  All documentation required is accurately maintained.

·  All interactions adhere to the principles of confidentiality and privacy as defined within JewishCare’s policies and procedures
Participate in professional learning and development opportunities
·  Participate in professional learning and development opportunities
·  Attend team meetings / ·  Active participation in the training and education programs for professional development of staff.
·  Active participation in supervision
Work Health & Safety Responsibilites / Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
·  Responsible for ensuring compliance with all JewishCare WH&S policies and procedures.
·  Responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with all management and security systems.
·  Immediately notifies Coordinator of and documents any emergencies, accidents, incidents or identified hazards / ·  All WH&S issues are promptly reported to the Supervisor and Incident/Accident reports completed.
·  HR, Finance and Facilities procedures are adhered to at all times.
Team Work
·  Adhere to HR policies with regard to Workplace behaviour
·  Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and regular review of clients, reporting on the client’s progress at staff meetings as required
·  Participate in JewishCare’s staff accreditation, performance review and planning processes. / ·  Appropriate workplace behaviours are exhibited at all times
General Duties
·  Participate in supervision sessions
·  Promptly report to the Program Manager or Case Worker regarding any incidents as required. / ·  To accept supervision from the Program Manager and participate in relevant performance appraisal.
Technical Skills & Knowledge (desirable only in italics)
Qualifications / Skills/Knowledge / Experience
·  Certificate IV in Mental Health or a Cert IV Diploma or Degree in a related field
·  Mental Health First Aid Certifcate
·  Current unrestricted NSW Driver’s License and willingness to drive
·  A Current Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to attain. / ·  Effective communication skills based on respect and trust
·  Punctuality and reliability
·  Caring, attentive and considerate of the needs of others
·  Knowledge of Mental Health act
·  Able to handle sensitive issues and resolve conflicts with tact and discretion.
·  Able to demonstrate sustained motivation to provide a high level of service and program delivery for clients.
·  Able to work collaboratively to ensure resolution of service delivery problems.
·  Knowledge, sensitivity and an understanding of Jewish values, heritage and culture
·  A desire to support people living with a mental health condition
·  Basic computer skills / ·  Experience working in a similar role is desirable

Salary

The Social Community Home Care and Disability Service Industry Award 2010 position, Level 1 or 2, depending on experience
