PLUMBING FIXTURES AND FITTINGS

PART 1: GENERAL

1.01 REFERENCES

.1 CSA B45 Series Standards, Plumbing Fixtures.

.2 ANSI Z358.1-2004.

1.02 SHOP DRAWINGS

.1 Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings (fixture cuts) for all plumbing fixtures and fittings.

PART 2: PRODUCTS

2.01 GENERAL RE: PLUMBING FIXTURES AND FITTINGS

. 1 Fixtures and fittings, where applicable, are to be in accordance with requirements of CSA B45 Series, Plumbing Fixtures.

.2 All fixtures and fittings for use by the handicapped are to be barrier-free and in accordance with Ontario Building Code requirements.

.3 Unless otherwise specified, all vitreous china fixtures are to be white.

.4 Unless otherwise specified, all fittings exposed to view are to be chrome plated and polished.

.5 All fittings located in areas other than private washrooms are to be vandal-proof.

.6 All fixtures carriers are to be suitable in all respects for the fixture they support and the construction in which they are located.

2.02 BARRIER FREE WATER CLOSET – TYPE WC-1

.1 American Standard #2377.10 “CADET RIGHT HEIGHT” white vitreous china water closet combination with elongated low consumption (6L) bowl with pressure – assisted siphon jet flushing action, fully glazed 50 mm dia. ballpass trapway, and bolt caps, and a close-coupled flush tank with side mount chrome trip lever and “Speed Connect” tank/bowl coupling system.

.2 Each water closet is to be complete with:

.1 seats: Centoco #820STS, elongated, heavy-duty, solid plastic open front white seat with cover and check hinge

.2 supply: McGuire # H166LKN3 chrome plated angle supply with wheelhandle stop and flexible riser

2.03 URINAL – TYPE U-1

.1 American Standard “ALLBROOK”, white, vitreous china, wall hung, low consumption (3.8 L), siphon jet action, barrier free design urinal with flushing rim, 20 mm dia. top spud inlet, 50 mm outlet, wall hanger, and the following:

.1 flush valve: Sloan “Regal” # 186-1.0 – XL exposed diaphragm type, chrome plated, 3.8 L flush valve, suitable for barrier free use and complete with a 20 mm dia. screwdriver angle stop, vacuum breaker flush connection, and non-hold open handle

Or, Sloan #186-1.0 ES-S REGAL OPTIMA Electronic 'No-Touch' Flush Valve Unit, C.P. low consumption, 3.8 LPF (1.0 GPF) factory set flow, quiet action, diaphragm type, with filtered by-pass infrared proximity sensor, solenoid flush controller, circuitry, in S.S. wall access plate, vacuum breaker and back-check angle stop. Sloan #EL-154 Transformer, 120/24 VAC 50 VA.

2.04 LAVATORY – TYPE L-1

.1 American Standard #0476.028 'AQUALYN' Basin, 4" (102mm) centres, 20-1/2" x 17-1/2" x 7-3/8" (521mm x 445mm x 178mm) deep, counter mounted, vitreous china, front overflow, tapered style rim and self-rimming.

.1 Supply fitting: Sloan #ETF-600-C-LT-BDT-VPB 'OPTIMA' Electronic 'No Touch' Faucet, Hard-Wired C.P. 4" (102mm) C.C., solid cast brass body with integral proximity sensor, with vandal-resistant 8.3 LPM (2.2 GPM) laminar flow (non-aerating) outlet, control module, solenoid, strainer, tempered water supplied by thermostatic mixing valve with back checks and Supplies C.P. all brass ball valve stops, housed in 12" (305mm) sq. recessed metal box with 13" (330mm) sq. V.P., S.S. face, located in wall under basin. Flexible conduit from control module to faucet and solenoid provided. Power requirement 15 VA.

.2 Transformer: Sloan #EL-154 Transformer, 120/24 VAC 50 VA, can serve up to 10 units.

.3 Drain: McGuire #155ASAN Basin Drain, C.P., cast brass 1 pc. top, open grid and 17ga. (1.5mm), 1-1/4" (32mm) tailpiece. Full assembly shall be treated inside and out with 'SANIGUARD' antimicrobial compound.

.4 Supply: Provide S.S. Supply with escutcheon (to connect box to faucet).

.5 p-Trap: McGuire #8872CBSAN 'p' Trap, C.P., polished, cast brass adjustable body, 1-1/4" (32mm) with cleanout plug, seamless brass wall bend and escutcheon. Full Assembly shall be treated inside and out with 'SANIGUARD' antimicrobial compound.

2.05 BARRIER FREE LAVATORY – TYPE L-2

.1 American Standard #0954.900 'MURRO' Basin with Sealed Overflow, 4" (102mm) centers, 21-1/4" x 22"x 5 - 7-1/2" (540mm x 559mm x 127-191mm) deep, wall hung, vitreous china, integral back splash, self draining deck area, sloped front lip, for concealed arm carrier and pedestal support plate. American Standard #0059.020 Semi-China Pedestal, to cover exposed piping as per local codes.

.4 Supply - Provide Flexible Copper Supply, with escutcheon (connecting mixing valve to faucet).

.5 p-Trap - McGuire #8872CBSAN 'p' Trap, C.P., polished, cast brass adjustable body, 1-1/4" (32mm) with cleanout plug, seamless brass wall bend and escutcheon. Full Assembly shall be treated inside and out with 'SANIGUARD' antimicrobial compound.

.6 Carrier - Jay R. Smith #0700-Z-M Basin Carrier, with steel pipe legs, block base feet support, concealed arms and pedestal plate. (For narrow wall installation provide 'Z' type sleeve for arms.)

2.06 EYEWASH FOUNTAIN

.1 Eyewash Fountain - Type EE-1

.1 Guardian Model G1750P eyewash fountain: complete with plastic receptor, two plated aerator heads, each head has a “flip-top” dust cover, internal flow control and filter, heavy duty cast aluminum wall mounting bracket with corrosion resistant powder coated finish, NPS 1/2 (13mm) supply and NPS 1 1/4 (30mm) drain and NPS 1/2 stay-open ball valve.

.2 Emergency Fixture Mixing Valves: Bradley Model S19-2000 packaged water blending system, mixing cold and hot water to maintain a set outlet temperature of 22°C. Consists of liquid-filled thermal motor and a piston control mechanism with positive shutoff of hot water when cold water supply is lost, allow cold flow in event of loss or interruption of hot water supply or thermostat failure, cold water bypass, outlet temperature gauge, stainless steel cabinet, NPS 1/2 (13mm) connections.

.2 Portable Emergency Eyewash Station EE-2.

.1 Self-contained with factory-sealed cartridges. The eyewash shall delivers a constant flow rate and stream height with 0.4 gpm for 15-minutes flushing period as required by ANSI Z358.1-2004. The unit shall complete with a pressure balancing system and nozzles

.1 Solution: Set of 2 Sperian Saline solution cartridges; standard pH-balanced, sterile pH-balanced, high humidity

.2 Flow Duration: 15 minutes

.3 Dimensions:

.1 Reservoir up: 737mm L x 762mm H x 438mm D (29" L x 30" H x 17 1/4" D),

.2 Reservoir down: 737mm L x 1041mm H x 438mm D (29" L x 41" H x 17 1/4" D)

.4 Capacity: 26.5 Litre (7 gallons)

.5 Maintenance: Replace cartridge every 24 months

.6 Expiration: 24 month cartridge life from date of manufacture (sold separately)

2.07 JANITOR’S SINK – TYPE JS-1

.1 Atlantic Stainless Fabricators Ltd. (contact Mohamed Rajik at 416-285-5535) or approved alternates, floor mounted sink, minimum 1.2 m long x 610 mm x 254 mm deep, constructed of #16 gauge type 304 stainless steel with a # 4 finish and complete with a 75 mm dia. corner standing waste with 254 mm high perforated removable corner guard with clips. Perforation at full extent of corner guard, wall clips, a full length (610 mm x minimum 1219) 1219 mm high surround, and the following:

.1 supply fitting: Chicago Faucets #305VBR-XK-Hose-58 200 mm centreset wall mount faucet assembly with cast brass lever handles, vacuum breaker, integral stops, and 1800 mm of hose with hanger.

.2 trap: 75 mm dia. “P” trap conforming to material requirements specified in Section 22 13 16

.2 Refer to architectural drawings for exact sink dimensions.

.3 Sink shall have integral slopes in drain at ½”:1’-0”, C/W, and all required trim and closures.

2.08 DEMO KITCHEN COUNTER SINK – TYPE S-1

.1 Franke Kindred Canada Ltd. # QDL2031/8 “STEEL QUEEN”, undercoated, double bowl counter sink constructed of #20 gauge grade 18-8 stainless steel with mirror finished rim and satin finish 360 mm x 410 mm x 200 mm deep bowl, complete with ledgeback punched on 200 mm centres for a supply fitting, 89 mm dia. basket strainer waste fittings with 38 mm dia. tailpieces, and the following:

.1 supply fitting: American Standard #7320.000.002 “Amarilis Heritage” two-handle 200 mm centre supply fitting with brass swing spout with aerator, washerless ceramic disc cartridges, and #372 wrist blade handles

.2 trap: rough copper or brass 38 mm dia. “P” trap with cleanout plug

.3 supplies: 12 mm dia. ball type shut-off valves as per Section 22 11 16

2.09 LUNCHROOM COUNTER SINK- TYPE S-2

.1 Franke Kindred Canada Ltd. #QSL2020/8 “STEEL QUEEN” undercoated, single 460 mm x 410 mm x 200 mm deep bowl counter sink constructed of #20 gauge grade 18-8 stainless steel with a mirror finish rim and satin finish bowl, ledgeback punched on 200 mm centres for a supply fitting, 89 mm dia. basket strainer waste fitting with 38 mm dia. tailpiece, and the following:

.1 supply fitting: Symmons #S-23-LST “Symmetrix” 200 mm centre single lever handle kitchen sink faucet with swing spout with aerator and long supply tubes

.2 trap: rough copper or brass 38 mm dia. “P” trap with cleanout plug

.3 supplies: 12 mm dia. ball type shut-off valves as per Section 22 11 16

2.10 DEMO KITCHEN HAND SINK – TYPE S-3

.1 Moen # 22246 “Camelot”, undercoated, single 300 mm x 250 mm x 115 mm deep bowl counter sink constructed of #20 gauge type 301 polished stainless steel and complete with a backledge punched on 100 mm centres for a supply fitting, a 50 mm dia. “SEALTITE” drain assembly with 38 mm dia. tailpiece, and the following:

.1 supply fitting: American Standard #7490.000.002 “Amarilis Heritage” 100 mm centreset supply fitting with gooseneck swing spout with aerator and #372 wrist blade handles

.2 trap: rough brass or copper 38 mm dia. “P” trap with cleanout

.3 supplies: 12 mm dia. ball type shut-off valves as per Section 22 11 16

2.11 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

.1 Acceptable plumbing fixture and fitting manufacturers are as follows:

.1 vitreous china fixtures: American Standard, Eljer, Crane and Kohler

.2 supply fittings: Sloan, American Standard, Moen

.3 stainless steel sink: Franke Kindred Canada Ltd., Elkay, Moen and American Standard Industries “Airstaline”

.4 water closet seats: Centoco, Moldex, Olsonite and Beneke

.5 flush valves: Sloan, Zurn, and Cambridge Brass

.6 fixture carriers: Smith, Zurn, and Watts

.7 fixture trim: unless otherwise specified, American Standard, Zurn, Cambridge Brass, Chicago Faucet, and Symmons

.8 Eyewash Fountain: Guardian, Haws, Bradley

.9 Portable Eyewash Station: FENDALL PURE FLOW 1000

.2 Or approved alternate.

PART 3: EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION OF PLUMBING FIXTURES AND FITTINGS

.1 Provide all required plumbing fixtures and fittings.

.2 Protect all fixtures and trim during construction period. Replace any fixtures that contain cracks, flaws or imperfections.

.3 Confirm the exact location of all plumbing fixtures and trim prior to roughing-in.

.4 When installation is complete, check and test the operation of each fixture and fitting. Adjust or repair as required.

.5 Supply templates for all counter mounted fixtures and trim and hand to the trade who will cut the counter. Ensure openings in the counter are properly located.

.6 For the type JS-1 janitor’s sink, locate the supply fitting approximately 915 mm above the finished floor, and locate the hose hanger approximately 450 mm above the finished floor. Confirm exact dimensions prior to roughing-in.

.7 For water closets, urinals, type L-2 lavatories, and type JS-1 janitor’s sinks, ensure that caulking around the perimeter of the fixture at the wall or floor is specified in Division 07.

.8 Connect fixtures complete with supplies and drains, separately trapped, supported level and square. Hot water faucets shall be on left side. Thermostatic controlled mixing valves shall include check stops on supplies.

.9 Set lavatory maximum temperature limit stops to deliver maximum 38°C water.

.10 Insulate exposed fixture piping in accordance with local plumbing and building codes.

.11 Locate emergency eyewash stations as per ANSI Z358.1-2004. The Flushing Fluid Nozzles shall be mounted no less than 838mm and not greater than 1143mm. Coordinate with Contractor for wall blocking support as required.
