Dear Parent/Carer,

Labour Party Conference

Sunday 27th September 2015

As part of their AS Government and Politics course your son/daughter has the opportunity to visit the Labour Party Conference on Sunday 27th September. We will be attending the Progress Think Tank Rally – and will have the chance to listen to Labour Politicians such as Liz Kendall, Chuka Ummuna, Tristram Hunt and Caroline Flint.

Students will need to bring £13.30 for their return rail fare and will pay for this at the ticket machine/office on the day. Students could bring a small amount of money for possible refreshments. Students are to meet at Havant Train Station (Journeys to Brighton/London platform side) at 4.00pm and are to be collected from Havant Station (Journeys to Portsmouth platform side) at 9.10pm. If they are making their own way home I will need you to note this on the return consent form.

As this trip is deemed to be an enhancement to the curriculum, the school normally is unable to offer financial assistance and therefore the full cost of the activity must be borne by yourselves. Any families who are experiencing financial hardship are asked to contact Mrs B Ludlam, Director of Sixth Form Learning, as support for this trip may be available from the 16-19 bursary.

We would advise that students do not to take valuables out on school activities, however, should they be taken parents should ensure personal possessions are adequately insured.

It is the parent’s/carer’s responsibility to update the school should there be any changes to the medical information about their child. Please communicate these to Mrs Brettell, Business Support Manager.

Please complete and return the consent form to the Finance Office.

Yours sincerely

Mr. R.J. Smith

Head of Government and Politics
