During campus expansion this location was determined to be an ideal site for new dormitories. A plan was devised to move the plots 1 mile west so the wheat cultivation could continue. The top 8 inches of soil were scraped off and then the next 8 to 16 inches of the subsoil was dug up and moved. The subsoil was put into trenches 16 inches deep, 17.5 feet wide and 100 feet long at the new location. The topsoil was then placed on top of the subsoil. (Green, D. E. 1990.
